Definitions of class types:

  • eLearning: Instructor-led demonstration via web and phone. This class type does not include hands-on instruction. Participants may join from their home site with phone and computer/internet access.
  • eLearning/Hands-on: Instructor-led demonstration and hands-on via web and phone. Some sessions provide access to an OIT training environment while others require access to a home training environment or test patient. Participants may join from their home site with phone and computer/internet access.
  • Classroom: In-person instructor-led lecture and hands-on in an OIT training environment. Participants must be in the classroom to participate.
  • Satellite Classroom: Area provided proctor supports an instructor teaching via web and phone. This class type includes hands-on in an OIT training environment. Participants must be in the classroom to participate.

Description: This five day course is designed to provide Site Managers with the basic knowledge and skills to manage their facility’s RPMS system on a daily basis. The course will cover basic RPMS management functions, utilities, operations, security, and identifying, troubleshooting and resolving common Caché, hardware, and software problems.      BCMA Configuration & Test

Prerequisite: This BCMA Training and Deployment Activity is strictly for [a] Eligible Hospital [EH] BCMA & eMAR Team Members that must report on the Meaningful Use Stage 2 eMAR Measure in 2014 and [b] Members of the VA-IHS BCMA Cross Functional Team [CFT]. The purpose of the VA-IHS BCMA CFT is to address the goals and objectives identified in the CFT Charter and establish an operational relationship. The CFT will assist and guide implementation and operational use of BCMA in IHS and Tribal Healthcare facilities.

Prerequisite: Intended Audience: Inpatient Pharmacy Informaticists and BCMA Coordinators and those needing a refresher. Requires advanced knowledge of the RPMS Inpatient Suite of Pharmacy Applications and Fileman. Each participant must have access to a computer with internet connection and a separate telephone line to dial into the web conferencing number. Participants must also have access to both their facility’s RPMS roll & scroll system and EHR GUI.

The first portion of the training includes a demonstration of the new ICD-10 updates and other new functionality released in iCare v.2.4. In addition the trainer demonstrates the use of Menu options and function buttons to establish site parameters, utilize sort and filter functions for data display and analysis, andto enter patient data in the patient record. Patient care scenarios are used to create panels to identify patient care needs and areas for improvement.

Description: Audience: Newly-hired PCC Data Entry Technicians, other Technicians without formal PCC training, and experienced Technicians needing a refresher course or needing an update on new features of the PCC Data Entry System. This is not a class intended for CHRs. Objectives: Students will learn about the Patient Care Component and its relational file structure. Students will learn to review a variety of PCC Encounter Forms and abstract appropriate data into the PCC utilizing a variety of data entry mnemonics. Students will learn basic ICD Coding skills. Students will learn how to execute the Coding Queue, review incomplete visits and flag as reviewed/un reviewed, display visits and produce health summaries to validate what they have entered. Students will learn how to modify and delete erroneous data. Students will learn how to merge and transfer data from multiple visits into the appropriate PCC visit record. Teaching Method: The course consists of, lecture with handouts, power point presentation, and numerous computer hands-on exercises and practice sessions.
