Thank you for your interest in a continuing education activity through the IHS Clinical Support Center (CSC) Office of Continuing Education, the accredited provider for the Indian Health Service.
The CSC has taken another exciting step forward in our commitment to offering quality continuing education developed by and for the healthcare team and has earned Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education™. Joint Accreditation offers us the opportunity to be simultaneously accredited to provide medicine, pharmacy and nursing continuing education activities through a single, unified application process, fee structure and set of accreditation standards, from three global leaders in the field of accreditation.
- Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME)
- Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)
- American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
Jointly accredited providers demonstrate quality and excellence in CE and must meet rigorous standards for educational quality and independence. With the joint accreditation initiative, the ACCME, the ACPE, and the ANCC seek to assure the public that healthcare teams receive education that is designed to be independent, free from commercial bias, based on valid content, and effective in improving the quality and safety of care delivered by the team.
Joint accreditation is the leading model of interprofessional collaboration that helps improve healthcare through continuing education for the team, by the team.
Our mission is to develop and support continuing professional education activities meeting the needs of Indian health program health care providers throughout the United States. The purpose of these educational activities is to assist providers in maintaining and enhancing their clinical competence in order to promote high quality health care for all American Indians and Alaskan Natives.
Regardless of whether you are a beginner or experienced in the continuing education process, the most important thing to remember is to contact us at the Clinical Support Center as early as possible in the planning process to insure compliance with accreditation guidelines.
