Activity Overview:

Before final restoration and after complete cleaning and shaping, the root canal system must be obturated. Various techniques are available to the provider based upon experience and available equipment. This training course covers Cold Lateral Obturation [standard and nonstandard] as well as Warm Vertical Obturation utilizing the System B heat carrier, and the Obtura gutta percha gun. Techniques, tips, and detailed visual examples are used.

Overview of Series:
Over the past few years the practice of endodontics has undergone rapid change as a result of research as well as advances in techniques and equipment. The Indian Health Service employs a large number of general dentists, many who are stationed in isolated areas of the country. Access to the latest innovations in endodontics is not always readily available, and professional exchange of information may be limited.

To meet these limitations IHS developed a 3-course series of online interactive courses designed to review knowledge, convey new information, and act as a ready reference available 24/7. Obturation is the third course in the series. Obturation covers the most common and best supported techniques available today. Live demonstrations and 3D animations are used to explain and demonstrated these techniques.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of this training you will be able to discuss:
-Requirements of endodontic obturation materials
-Cold Lateral Standard Obturation
-Cold Lateral Non-Standard Obturation
-Warm Vertical System B with Obtura Obturation
