Summary:

This course is open only to new dentists within the Great Plains Area of the IHS. This Dental Challenges Course provides the basis for understanding and working in the IHS, Tribal, and Urban dental programs as well as the ability to provide dental services efficiently and effectively in a public health setting.

This is a 5-day course that begins Monday at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. For a detailed agenda, please contact Dr. Flauryse Baguidy, Area Dental Officer.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this multi-day course, participants will be able to:

1. State the Overall Mission of IHS/Utilize the IHS framework to apply the HQ DOH Strategic Plan;
2. Differentiate between a Public Health Practice and Private Practice Model; and
3. Apply evidence-based dentistry in clinical practical situations.

ADA CERP does not approve or endorse individual courses or instructors, nor does it imply acceptance of credit hours by boards of dentistry. All participants should take 6 pre-tests as described above before participating in the course.

Please Make Checks Payable to: Indian Health Service.

Tuition Policy:

Tuition must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to the start date of any course. Request for refunds must be received in writing at least two weeks before the course begins. For each refund request, there will be an administrative charge of $100. No refunds will be made to registrants who fail to attend a course. If IHS CDE program cancels a course, then 100% of the tuition will be refunded.
