Summary:

This course will include data review and writing PDSAs to work towards increased access for elders. The strategy that will be the primary focus for this session is motivational interviewing specific to working with elders.

Agenda:
9-10 - Review quarterly data
10-2 - Treating seniors in community settings
2-3 - Tobacco cessation for elders
3-4 - Work in teams on action plans/write PDSAs

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
1.   Describe the progress your dental program has made towards increasing access for Tribal elders.
2.   List three primary elements of motivational interviewing and one strategy specific to working with elders.
3.   Demonstrate the principles of motivational interviewing through roleplays.

This course is for those in the Portland Area participating in the Elder Care Initiative.

Tuition Policy:

Tuition must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to the start date of any course. Request for refunds must be received in writing at least two weeks before the course begins. For each refund request, there will be an administrative charge of $100. No refunds will be made to registrants who fail to attend a course. If IHS CDE program cancels a course, then 100% of the tuition will be refunded.
