Summary:

This course is designed to introduce basic radiology interpretations of common dental diseases. Participants will gain knowledge in the anatomical landmarks in 2D images, interpret, and classify carious lesions, periapical lesions, and periodontal disease. Topics include principles of panoramic imaging, panoramic anatomy, and patient position errors on a panoramic image. Incidental findings will also be presented. The presentation will include illustrated case presentations, discussions, and interactive radiographic interpretations.

2:30 – 3:00   Interpretation of radiographs to diagnose periapical and pulpal pathology
3:00 – 3:30   Principles of panoramic imaging
3:30 – 4:00   Normal and incidental findings on panoramic images
4:00 – 5:00   Case presentations and critical thinking educational activities

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
1.   Interpret normal anatomical landmarks in periapical and bitewings radiographs.
2.   Interpret radiographs to diagnose caries, periodontal disease, periapical and pulpal pathology.
3.   Identify normal and incidental findings on panoramic images.

Tuition Policy:

Tuition must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to the start date of any course. Request for refunds must be received in writing at least two weeks before the course begins. For each refund request, there will be an administrative charge of $100. No refunds will be made to registrants who fail to attend a course. If IHS CDE program cancels a course, then 100% of the tuition will be refunded.
