DE0852: FY 2026 IHS Monthly CDE Webinar: A Review of the 2022 AAOMS Position Paper on Bisphosphonates FAC [Live Webinar]
The Monthly IHS CDE Webinars are available to all IHS, tribal, and urban dental program staff [dentists, dental hygienists, dental health aide therapists, community dental health coordinators, expanded function dental assistants, dental assistants, and dental health aides].
Description: This course provides an evidence-based update on Medication-Related Osteonecrosis of the Jaws [MRONJ] based on the 2022 AAOMS Position Paper. Participants will review current diagnostic criteria, pathogenesis, risk stratification by patient population [osteoporosis vs. malignancy], and practical clinical recommendations for prevention and management.
Upon completion of this training/course, participants should be able to:
1]. Define MRONJ using the current AAOMS 2022 diagnostic criteria and distinguish it from other forms of osteonecrosis.
2]. Compare the mechanisms of action of bisphosphonates versus denosumab and explain their implications for risk and surgical timing.
3]. Apply current prevalence data and risk-benefit considerations to counsel patients and make informed clinical decisions regarding dentoalveolar procedures in patients on antiresorptive therapy.

Tuition must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to the start date of any course. Request for refunds must be received in writing at least two weeks before the course begins. For each refund request, there will be an administrative charge of $100. No refunds will be made to registrants who fail to attend a course. If IHS CDE program cancels a course, then 100% of the tuition will be refunded.
