SUMMARY:Narrative Medicine: Exploring Patient Experiences of Diabetes Through Zines and Storytelling

DESCRIPTION:This presentation will discuss Storytelling and Diabetes, a culturally grounded, semi-structured group program developed for American Indian adults living with diabetes. Integrating narrative medicine, social cognitive theory, and expressive arts, the program uses zine-making and intergenerational pairing to support connection, meaning-making, and self-management. The presentation will share the program's theoretical grounding, structure, practice innovations, and past participants' evaluations.
