The session aims to illuminate the challenges and opportunities in managing diabetes within these communities, including socioeconomic barriers, healthcare access, and traditional beliefs. Participants will learn strategies for engaging Navajo individuals and communities in diabetes education, emphasizing respect for cultural values and the utilization of local resources and leadership. Additionally, case studies will highlight practical applications and the positive impacts of culturally adapted health initiatives. By the end of this presentation, participants will have a comprehensive understanding of how to adapt and apply the ADCES 7-Self Care Behaviors in a manner that respects Navajo traditions and improves diabetes outcomes.
