MEMORANDUM

DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, EDUCATION, AND WELFARE OFFICE OF THE ASSISTANT SECRETARY FOR HEALTH

On March 29, 1977, the Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare delegated to me, with authority to redelegate, the authority vested in the Secretary under Section 524 of Public Law 94-482 (20 USC 2564), subject to the provision that HEW officials should coordinate to maximize effectiveness and economy in the use of day care facilities.

I hereby delegate to the PHS agency heads the authority delegated to me under Section 524 of Public Law 94-482 (20 USC 2564).  This authority may be exercised insofar as it applies to day care centers located or designated for location in space under the respective jurisdictions of the PHS agency heads, excluding space within the Parklawn Complex, Rockvllle, Maryland.  The exercise of this authority is subject to the limitations and restrictions identified in Section 524 of Public Law 94-482 and to applicable Department and Public Health Service policy and procedural guidelines.

This authority may be redelegated, but to no lower than the head of a major field installation.

This delegation is effective upon date of signature.
