Summary: To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Medical Support Assistance Series 0679 (opm.gov) In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-04: 1 year of general experience; OR, 2 years above high school. GS-05: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level; OR, 4 years above high school. GS-06: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level. General Experience: Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience for GS-05: Assist patients with making appointments, interview patients to gather information, enter patient data into an electronic health record, assist patients in completing forms, review documents for accuracy, explain processes and policies to patients, initiate health records and admission forms. Examples of specialized experience for GS-06: knowledge of the appointment system, ability to coordinate patient care based on medical provider referral for purchased referred care services, assist with completion of admissions, transfers, and discharges of patients. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
