Summary: Wind River Family Community Health Care is seeking applicants for the position of Pediatric Nurse Practitioner [PNP]. Wind River Family Community Health Care provides ambulatory health care for the service population of the Wind River Reservation. The PNP serves as a member of the Medical team in the clinic of the Wind River Family Community Health Care Center, located in Arapahoe, Wyoming, and is under the direct supervision of the Chief Medical Officer. The clinic is located on the Wind River Indian Reservation in west central Wyoming, adjacent to the beautiful Wind River Mountains. The rich cultural heritage of the Northern Arapaho Tribe contributes to the overall satisfaction of providing health care services to a vibrant, dynamic population. Hiking, climbing, fishing, hunting and all outdoor activities are readily available in this area, and we are a short two hour drive to the resort town of Jackson Hole, where world class skiing can be found.

The yearly income, like other elements of the compensation package is entirely negotiable. IHS, Civil Service and Commissioned Corps Officers are welcomed and encouraged to apply. Other elements could include a moving allowance for the provider, a signing bonus, or stipend if near the end of training, prior to graduation. We can provide a site visit and compensation for the visit. We do participate in loan repayment programs, and we contribute to your continuing education. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8a-5p, unless otherwise negotiated, no on call, with all Federal holidays off. Health insurance and a generous 401[k] package is available. Additional clinics are currently being planned, making this a chance to become established in a growing, healthy organization.
Duties: The PNP provides outpatient care in a clinic setting. The successful candidate will conduct regular outpatient clinics and general medical and pediatric examinations, diagnosis and treatment of patients. Responsible for timely, accurate, documentation in the medical record. He/she determines when the services of a specialist are needed to treat unusual cases, obtains phone consultation when necessary and arranges for appropriate follow-up. Analyzes the clinical records of new patients to ascertain diagnosis, obtains necessary consultation for cases presenting difficulty in diagnosis or treatment and authorizes admission of patients to acute care hospitals for emergency medical care and surgery. Participates in organizational meetings to develop new, modify existing and evaluate medical procedures relative to patient care with the objective of constantly improving and increasing the degree of patient care given to clients. Fosters the continued development of the medical home model, working on quality improvement projects as assigned and continually builds the capacity of the team. Teaching or mentoring also preferred.
Qualifications: Education: At minimum a Masters Degree as a Pediatric Nurse practitioner from a school in the United States approved by a recognizing body in the year of the applicants graduation, or Masters Degree in the above areas of study from a foreign school which provided education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Certificates, licenses, registrations: Must possess a permanent, current full and unrestricted Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in any state in the United States, Territory or District of Columbia. Current, full and unrestricted DEA license. Certification from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
