Job Title: Staff Pharmacist Dept: Pharmacy Reports to: Pharmacy Director Grade: 19 FLSA Status: Exempt Job Summary: As a member of the clinical team, provides professional quality pharmaceutical care to patients and the community. Assist providers in determining the most beneficial use of medication and ensures that the provision of healthcare services takes place in a professional non-biased environment, and is accomplished efficiently.
Duties: Essential Functions: Promotes health and safety in all aspects of pharmaceutical provisions. Independently carries out all clinical pharmacy functions. Performs drug utilization review on every new and refilled medication. Selects drugs and performs compounding and dispensing. Provides consultative advice to patients and providers in regard to the medicinal effect and purpose of all pharmaceuticals. Enforces treatment protocols and formulary management in conjunction with providers. Performs disease state management and other clinical pharmaceutical duties as assigned. Responsible for safeguarding all narcotics. Assists pharmacy staff with daily functions. Operates cash register and accurately enters sales transactions. Assists with stocking, ordering and receiving of pharmaceutical inventory. Conducts monthly and yearly inventory. Delivers medications to patient homes as needed. Supervises work of pharmacy staff as required by Oregon Board of Pharmacy. Supervises Pharmacy Staff and work functions in the absence of the Pharmacy Director. Authorized to serve both eligible and non-eligible beneficiaries in an outreach capacity both on and off site. Authorized to transport native and/or non-native patients of the GRHWC in company vehicle as necessary. Performs a variety of other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Licenses: Requires a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or a Pharm.D degree. Four (4) years of experience as a Pharmacist preferred. Requires a current license with Oregon Board of Pharmacy, or eligibility for reciprocation. OR equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Must maintain a valid Oregon driver's license or obtain one upon hire, qualify for the Tribe's vehicle insurance, and provide proof of personal vehicle insurance. Qualifications, Registrations, and Certifications: Requires knowledge of third party manageability and staff supervision. Requires knowledge of accounting, inventory management. Requires CPR certification. Must have a working knowledge of the Privacy Act/HIPAA and its applications. Knowledge of and sensitivity to Native American culture required. Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements: Continually requires the ability to express or receive detailed information or important instructions through oral communication. Continually requires color identification and close vision. Continually requires working with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm. Requires repetitive movement of wrists, hands and/or fingers. Often requires walking or moving about to accomplish tasks. Requires standing and/or sitting for sustained periods of time, raising objects from a lower to a higher position and/or moving objects horizontally. Occasionally requires lifting of up to 40 pounds. Due to the nature of the interactions with other employees and the public we serve, employees may be required to provide documentation of, or receive, certain health vaccinations. This position is frequently subject to inside environmental conditions which provide protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes, and is occasionally subject to outside environmental conditions. May be called upon to serve as a Disaster Reservist during Emergencies, or when the Tribal Emergency Operations Center is opened. Local travel is occasionally required. Travel outside of the state is infrequently required. Background Check: Candidates for this position will be subject to criminal and character background checks and may be subject to fingerprinting.
