| Duties: | I. Direct Patient Care Services: A. Provide direct patient care; make referrals, follow-ups and patient/family teaching. B. Call in pharmaceutical orders and refills as requested by the attending physician. C. Assists the medical receptionist in prioritizing walk-in and appointment patients. D. Prepare exam room and patient for medical services in accordance with medical protocols including vitals signs, etc. E. Obtains lab specimens, and performs in house lab tests, or prepares specimens for shipment to contract laboratory. F. Performs all required tests and assessments required by CHDP, diabetic audit, GPRA and any other guidelines, as well as all CVIH policy and procedures. G. Participate in telephone triage according to protocols in the absence of the RN. H. Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA & CVIH policies and procedures. I. Responsible for autoclaving/sterilizing maintaining inventory of equipment. II. Administrative Services A. Responsible for drug and supply inventories and orders for exam rooms. Monitors for expired supplies, and carries out disposal procedures as is necessary. Responsible for storage and sterilize all instruments. B. Participate in departmental QA activities in the absence of an RN. C. Responsible for monitoring infection control and maintenance. D. Any other duties assigned to the employee by his or her direct supervisor or CVIH management III. Staff Supervision A. Assists in instruction and supervision of medical assistants. |
| Qualifications: | 1. Current Active LVN License. 2. Current BLS 3. A valid California Driver's License and DMV printout. 4. Two years clinical experience in an outpatient setting is preferred. 5. Requires an awareness and keen appreciation of Indian traditions, customs, and socioeconomic needs; and ability at times to meet and deal effectively with Indian Health Organizations consisting of numerous tribes with varied cultures which requires tact, courtesy, discretion, resourcefulness, and good judgement in handling functions of a sensitive nature. |
