This position involves the review, preparation, document-checking, labeling, dispensing, and quality assurance of medications provided by the Pharmacy Department. Pharmacy services are provided to ambulatory patients, group home patients, dialysis patients and hospitalize patients.
Duties: Pharmacy Technician I - relies on instruction and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision or a team leader. Pharmacy Technician II - relies on limited experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals, performs a variety of complicated tasks, and works under general supervision. Performs a variety of task and may lead and direct the work of others. Duties: 1. Routinely inspects assigned drug storage areas. 2. Reviews basic chart screening procedures during prescription data entry. 3. Receives and fills orders from wards and clinics followed by a final check by the Pharmacist. 4. Types labels, fills outpatient prescriptions, interacts with patients and provides customer service. 5. Types labels, fills inpatient drug orders and discharge medication. 6. Performs intravenous admixture procedures. 7. Coordinates with nurses and other health professionals to ensure adequate supplies are on hand. 8. Participates in scheduled and organized continuing education programs. 9. Must demonstrate Leadership in the work environment, promote harmony, and exceptional customer service. 10. Must be willing to work day-shift and night shift, including weekends and holidays. 11. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent Experience: Must demonstrate skills in the practical use of electronic systems, database management software, intra-venous preparation skill, and satisfactory sterile technique(s). Pharmacy I - 0-4 years of experience in a healthcare or pharmaceutical setting as a Certified Pharmacy Technician. Pharmacy II - Must have more than 4 years of healthcare experience as a Certified Pharmacy Technician in an inpatient and outpatient setting, including inventory control and knowledge of pharmacy computer systems.
