Summary: The Medical Officer provides comprehensive health care on a daily basis and is expected to provide quality medical care to all patients. The incumbent works independently and on his/her own initiative as a medical provider and supports the mission of the facility.
Duties: • Obtains an adequate history and physical from the patient and/or family if appropriate • Performs an adequate exam, orders the appropriate laboratory or radiology exams needed (if available) • Orders medication, interpretation and synthesis of clinical data, formulation of treatment plans, conveying the information to patient and/or families, documents all activities as appropriate – meeting the standards of the accredited body • The patient population will consist of both male and female patients of all ages with a variety of health problems • Performs procedures as available in the facility when evidence of current competency has been provided and is verified • Refers the patient to appropriate medical facilities for care or service not provided at the Health Center. The transfer procedures require the release of information to the receiving facility • Obtains and maintains medical licensure in any state or territory of the United States. This includes meeting any requirements for continued medical education (CME) by the state or in the facility Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations • Follows all applicable laws and regulations (State, Federal, and Agency) in the practice of medicine in the Health Center • The physician assists in the development and presentation of medical and health information to the physician staff of the Clinic • Develops and presents medical education to health care providers / personnel as appropriate • Participates or represents the Medical Staff in the activities of the organization / facility-wide activities: o Pharmacy and Therapeutics o Safety o Records of patient care o Performance Improvement o Infection Control o Disaster / Emergency Preparedness, etc. • Must adhere to Osage Nation policies and accrediting agency's standards • Other duties as assigned by the Chief Medical Officer
Qualifications: ?Requires an active, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Oklahoma ?1-2 years' experience preferred ?Must maintain a professional attitude and appearance that positively represents the Nation ?Knowledge of HIPPA and Privacy Act ?Must be able to pass Osage Nation credentials and privileges requirements ?Requires a high level of personal integrity and ethics ?Requires a high level of problem solving skills ?Must maintain confidentiality at all times ?Requires ability to use Microsoft Office Suite programs ?Requires good interpersonal communication and team work skills ?Requires willingness and ability to learn new skills, including travel to conferences and training sessions ?Must be proficient with RPMS ?Proficiency preferred with women's health procedures including but not limited to IUD placement and removal, implantable contraceptive, colposcopy and uterine biopsy ?Must be proficient and competent in primary care office procedures, including, joint injections and skin biopsy ?Must be competent and comfortable in pediatric care ?Basic Life support certified ?Must be able to pass a criminal background check ?Must be able to pass drug/alcohol testing ?Must have a clean driving record – may be required to drive GSA or tribal vehicles
