The Tanana Chiefs Conference is now hiring for a Rural Medical Director to provide clinical leadership, support and oversight to our sub-regional clinics, rural clinics and CHAP instructors. The Rural Medical Director will serve as a strategic liaison between our urban super clinic (Chief Andrew Isaac Health Center), our Community Health Aid Training Center and the many rural clinics across Interior Alaska. The Rural Medical Director will advance TCC's mission of supporting health and wellness to Indian Health Service beneficiaries--Alaska Natives and American Indians, as well as many non-beneficiaries, in 42 villages across the river systems of the Interior (Yukon, Koyukuk, Kuskokwim, Tanana and more). This 235,000 square mile region is the home of the Tanana Chiefs Conference. TCC is looking for a Rural Medical Director that has proven clinical, organizational & people skills and also embodies respect, humility and cultural sensitivity. Candidate must be willing to fly to remote clinic locations at least quarterly by small twin-engine aircraft.
Duties: Knowledge, Skills, Duties: 1. Effectively communicate (written and oral) with clinicians, patients and executives 2. Analyze complex situations and problem solve 3. Ability to lead and mentor medical staff in providing compassionate care 4. Ability to collaborate with all TCC departments, staff and villages 5. Emotional intelligence and cross-cultural respect 6. Conflict resolution 7. Familiar with Section 330 Community Health Center funding 8. Clinical leadership, peer review, M&M and oversight of mid-level practitioners 9. Participate in review of patient satisfaction surveys and lead efforts to resolve patient complaints 10. Develop, implement and oversee quality improvement initiatives. Develop and update medical care protocols and standardize across sub regional clinics 11. Medical review for potential litigation claims and risk management assessments 12. Improve revenue cycle, diagnostic and E&M coding and productivity 13. Support HRSA operations and compliance, review of data, annual reporting, assessments, etc. 14. Emergency preparedness planning and compliance 15. Exceptional skills in mentoring and conflict resolution Supervision: This position has supervisory responsibilities for medical providers working in remote locations within TCC Health services.
Qualifications: Rural Medical Director Qualifications: • Board certified in Specialty (MD or DO) & licensed in Alaska • Minimum of 3 years clinical experience preferably in Alaska tribal health • Minimum of 2 years additional experience in practice or clinic management • Must possess exceptional administrative & communication skills • Experience with tribal, IHS or cross-cultural and rural medicine desired
