The Tanana Chiefs Conference is now hiring for a Nurse Midwife at the Chief Andrew Isaac Health Center--an award winning cultural super clinic located in Fairbanks--Interior Alaska's urban hub. The Fairbanks based clinic is itself a hub that serves the larger mission of supporting health and wellness to Indian Health Service beneficiaries--Alaska Natives and American Indians, as well as many non-beneficiaries, in 42 villages across the river systems of the Interior (Yukon, Koyukuk, Kuskokwim, Tanana and more). This 235,000 square mile region is the home of the Tanana Chiefs Conference. TCC is looking for a Nurse Midwife that has proven clinical, organizational & people skills and also embodies respect, humility and cultural sensitivity. The qualified candidate will have both clinical skill and passion to share our vision and serve our patient/customers. We are looking for a Nurse Midwife that wants to become part of our community and will grow to love Alaska and its peoples. Candidate must be willing to fly to remote clinic locations on occasion. Nurse Midwife Overview: Performs medical and specialized duties as a Nurse Midwife to IHS-eligible beneficiaries at Chief Andrew Isaac Health Center, Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, and in villages of interior Alaska. Provides routine well-women health care, normal and high risk obstetrical care, including ultrasounds, deliveries surgical procedures, and treatment of gynecological problems. 1. Consult with Family Medicine Physicians & OBGYN physician on OBGYN cases 2. Refers patients to necessary specialists in Fairbanks and Anchorage 3. Performs administrative duties of charting, billing, and EMR. 4. Participates in community call for obstetrics, as directed by OB physician. Minimum Qualifications: 1. Advanced nurse practitioner licensed to practice in State of Alaska. 2. Previous clinical experience in cross-cultural setting highly desirable. 3. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. 4. Staff privileges at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital 5. Must pass background check pursuant to federal Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act requirements. Duties: Representative Duties: Under the direct supervision of the Medical Director, job incumbent 1. Performs medical and specialized duties as a nurse midwife in the clinic and hospital, including routine well women health care, normal and high risk obstetrical care, ultrasounds, deliveries, surgical procedures, and treatment of gynelogical problems. 2. Is the consultant for Family Practice doctors and Physicians with OB-GYN cases. 3. Refers patients requiring services not available to CAIHC to other specialists in Fairbanks and Anchorage. 4. Performs administrative duties of charting, billing, and other necessary and or required paperwork. 5. Takes night call for obstetrics, as directed by OB physician.
