Under direct supervision of the CEO, the incumbent is responsible for the overall function, quality of care and the financial progress of the Pharmacy clinic. The purpose of this position is to serve as the Pharmacy Director for the Gerald L Ignace Indian Health Center, Inc, Milwaukee, WI. The incumbent if responsible for all matters pertaining to the pharmaceutical services provided, including traditional drug distribution activities as well as extensive clinical pharmacy service.
Duties: Administrative/Technical Duties – [75 %] 1. Formulation of clinical and pharmacy policies and procedures. 2. Accurate filling and dispensing of prescription and over-the counter drugs on orders of physician, optometrist, physician assistant, family nurse practitioner and dentist. 3. Dispensing prescription and over-the-counter drugs without the patient seeing the doctor (Pharmacy Primary Care) to treat minor ailments. 4. Counseling patients on the use, storage, cautions and side effects of all medications dispensed as well as documentation of cognitive services provided. 5. Responsible for procurement of supplies, drugs, and equipment to assure efficient pharmacy operation, extensive pre-packing and bulk compounding of medications to assure efficient pharmacy operation. 6. Responsible for monitoring all areas in the clinic for outdated drugs and inventory of controlled medication. Provides consultation to physicians, FMP, PHN, nurses, dentists, CHR's, PA's and psychologist. 7. As Supervisory Pharmacist, serves as primary drug authority for the Agency. 8. Encourages, supervises, plans, designs and implements pharmaceutical primary care programs, (e.g. warfarin, asthma, diabetes, hypertension, lipids). 9. Participates in the planning, designing and implementing of activities and programs that enhance pharmacy billing for dispensing and cognitive services. 10. Qualifications: Four-year bachelor's degree in pharmacy or doctorate of pharmacy with active license. Commissioned Officers are high encouraged to apply.
