Summary: Dillingham is located in the beautiful Bristol Bay region of Alaska and has a population of about 2500 until the summer months when it booms to about 10,000 for the fishing season. We are the salmon fishing capitol of the United States and there are many outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting, hiking, boating, kayaking and more. The Kanakanak Hospital is a 16-bed critical access hospital and Dillingham is surrounded by 27 villages that it also serves.

Under supervision of the Pharmacy Director, coordinates and develops pharmacy quality improvement activities. Coordinates and participates in interdepartmental activities related to quality, safety and regulatory compliance. Creates, reviews and coordinates processes and procedures for internal functions and external relations.
Duties: Develops and implements programs to align workforce with key organizational goals and initiatives. Identifies and implements effective process improvement measures to support the development and validation of pharmacy services and operations. Assists in the development and management of the Quality Assurance programs. Conducts needs analysis studies and confers with management. Uses information garnered to determine training needs, review existing programs and recommend changes. Creates and maintains systems to monitor and analyze process improvement and quality initiatives and measures. Serves as an active participant and liaison for pharmacy related to BBAHC policy and procedure groups and patient safety. Coordinates efforts to assure compliance with regulatory agencies such as Joint Commission, HRSA, etc. Acts as an effective leader or team member in supporting quality disciplines, decisions and practices. Creates, reviews and/or assists in developing the departmental training and competency tools and processes. Qualifications: Successful completion of at least a full five-year course leading to a Bachelor's or higher degree in pharmacy from an approved pharmacy school, completion of one (1) year internship and a current license to practice in any state of the United States is required. State of Alaska Pharmacist license is preferred. This employee must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age appropriate care including but not limited to inpatient medication reconciliation, medication therapy management and drug utilization review. Must have experience in an Inpatient Hospital setting with Pyxis experience. RPMS, ScriptPro and Bar Code Medication Administration (BCMA) experience preferred Must demonstrate proficiency in sterile and non-sterile compounding in accordance with USP standards. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span (e.g., pediatric/adult/geriatric) and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the assigned unit's policies and procedures.
