Summary: Dillingham is located in the beautiful Bristol Bay region of Alaska and has a population of about 2500 until the summer months when it booms to about 10,000 for the fishing season. We are the salmon fishing capitol of the United States and there are many outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting, hiking, boating, kayaking and more. The Kanakanak Hospital is a 16-bed critical access hospital and Dillingham is surrounded by 27 villages that it also serves.

Performs professional pharmacy services to hospitalized patients, outpatients, and provides pharmaceutical products and clinical pharmacy services throughout the Region. Pharmacy services are provided in accordance with regulatory agencies and The Joint Commission requirements.
Duties: Develops, implements, and maintains records control system. Supervises the storage and preservation of drug stock and equipment and maintains balanced stock control. Repots loss of controlled substances through DEA Form 106 reporting. Prepares budget estimates and requests. Submits periodic reports and keeps management advised regarding pharmacy activities, problems and programs. Acts as consultant to the CEO and Senior Leadership to determine the scope and nature of the pharmacy service provided. Works closely with key medical personnel and administrative staff in planning and coordinating the total pharmacy contribution to the facility's patient care program. Makes final decisions and commitments for the pharmacy operation, except those that are outside the framework of established agency, department and BBAHC policies and procedures. Qualifications: Successful completion of at least of full five-year course leading to a Bachelor's or higher degree in pharmacy from an approved pharmacy school, completion of one (1) year internship, at least five years experience, and State of Alaska Pharmacist license are required. Doctor of Pharmacy preferred. Must be familiar with federal and state requirements for maintaining Pharmacy compliance and accreditation. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her assigned unit. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span (e.g., pediatric / adult / geriatric) and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the assigned unit's policies and procedures.
