This position provides direct and comprehensive, preventative and therapeutic psychiatric and mental health advanced practice nursing care to individuals across the lifespan at the Karen I. Fryberg Tulalip Health Clinic serving the The Tulalip Tribes and their community. The incumbent reports to the Clinical Director. This position is a full-time, exempt, contract staff that includes benefits such as: 1-week CME plus allowance, employer-contributed 401k, 12 paid holidays, medical, dental, vision, vacation and sick leave, bereavement leave, flexible hours, etc. Work weeks are based on 80-hour pay periods, and employees are paid every other Friday.
Duties: 1. Participates in staff consultation regarding client treatment planning, and facilitating staff education in the field of psychiatry and mental health treatment. 2. Performs Psychiatric evaluations on clients who have an assigned mental health therapist that has already performed an intake assessment. 3. Elicits detailed client history and does a complete psychiatric examination. 4. Reaches diagnosis and orders appropriate laboratory testing and referrals to primary care or specialty care. 5. Counsels client and family on health and disease. 6. Performs medication evaluation every 3 months, prescribes for clients with mental health needs, and follows clients via medication management appointments. 7. Performs assessment and referral services for employees or others where there is a conflict of interest with the clinical supervisor or other special circumstances exist. Monitor for continuing service and referral needs. 8. Refers problems beyond scope of practice to appropriate professionals. 9. Bases decisions on information obtained through medical knowledge and skills, current accepted standards of care, and approved policies and procedures. Makes notes and charts observations in individual client medical records and completes all additional documentation. 10. Is available for consultation with the pharmacy through the standard workweek or make provisions for consultation coverage. 11. Observes strict client confidentiality, and all pertinent requirements of HIPAA and any other pertinent confidentiality regulations. 12. Attends monthly Psych Services department meetings weekly with other adult psych ARNP's, precepting students as available. 13. Available for emergency crisis interactions by phone or in person as needed 14. May be asked to be involved in any community activity requiring psychoeducational needs requiring the Psych ARNP's expertise. 15. Performs other duties any additional reasonable roles relevant to position as deemed necessary by the Clinical Director.
Qualifications: Education: • Graduate of an accredited advanced practice nursing school with a graduate degree from a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program. • Masters Degree required. DNP (Doctorate of Nursing Practice) preferred. Minimum Related Experience: • Two (2) years clinical experience as a Psychiatric ARNP. • Six (6) months experience utilizing electronic medical records Required Licenses/Certifications/Other: • Must possess and maintain a current and unrestricted Washington State ARNP License. • Must possess and maintain Board Certification in Psychiatry/Mental Health. • Must possess and maintain a current, full and unrestricted DEA license. (New grads required to apply upon hire and attain a full and unrestricted DEA license within six weeks of start date.) • Must possess current CPR or BCLS. • The Tulalip Tribes requires different levels of pre-employment background screening for all positions. Employment is contingent upon successful passing of these background checks. Job Requirements: • Employee must complete and attest Provider Source Washington State Provider Application at least 4 weeks prior to employment start date. • Employee must either manage and attest their own CAQH application or delegate that responsibility to a member of the credentialing team at least 4 weeks prior to employment start date. • Experience in making decisions relative to consultation with members of medical and institutional staff. • Experience in providing clinical care and evaluating patient care through an ongoing quality assurance program that identifies problems and their resolution. • Must adhere and abide by HIPPA regulations while employed and after leaving the organization. • Employee must attend Continuing Medical Education hours sufficient to meet Washington State Licensing requirements • Must be willing to attend progressive related trainings as deemed necessary. • Must be able to work in a culturally diverse environment and have some experience working with a Native American or Alaska Native Community. • Must have tolerance and patience to deal with upset, angry and/or frustrated patients and their families.
