This position has overall responsibility of the Nursing Division: determines the goals and objectives, identifies staffing needs, budget considerations and the range of inpatient/outpatient nursing, cardiopulmonary and laboratory services provided. Responsible for division compliance to local, state and federal standards, policies, guidelines and any grant funding requirements. Participates in TCRHCC strategic and operational governance processes as a member of the senior executive team; creates and fosters an environment of accountability and transparency; develops a strong interdisciplinary healthcare team and promotes high employee engagement. Incumbent will participate as a member of the Senior Leadership Council (SLC) and will be placed on a scheduled administrator-on-call after-hours.
Duties: 1. Works closely with the CEO to accomplish the goals and objectives of the Nursing/Ancillary strategic planning in cooperation with the Board of Directors and Senior Leadership. Participates with leadership in defining the care, treatment and service needs of the patient population served. Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Provides professional advice and knowledge for TCRHCC leadership team as well as the medical staff. 2. Maintains continuing quality assessment and improvement analysis and evaluation of patient care delivery and communicates with Administration on the activities/issues of Nursing/Patient Care Services. Gathers, researches analyzes, and reports on the division's processing metrics including relevant statistical data measures and complex departmental data; prepares and verifies reports, correspondence, and other documents. Page 2 of 2 3. Determine staff resources and training needs in collaboration with division managers and supervisors. Encourages and facilitates the professional advancement of employees by affording opportunities for further education and experience. 4. Responsible for the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of performance improvement and CQI. 5. Provides leadership in assessing, planning, directing and implementing programs to meet operation goals, assess quality, efficiency and effectiveness of current operations and services, and including customer satisfaction 6. Develops short and long range departmental plans and programs consistent, with organizational policies. Builds, develops, and manages a leadership team capable of meeting management objectives for the Nursing/Ancillary Division, linking business units to operational strategies. Recommends and coordinates division operations to implement new programs or modify existing programs to meet the changing needs of the patient population. 7. Responsible for cost controls to insure maximum effectiveness of funds expended from the approved departmental budgets. Prepares, monitors, and amends budgets and contracts; promotes cost containment efforts in all areas of operations. Administers approved budgets and oversees purchasing and account payable activities. 8. Gathers, researches analyzes, and reports on the division's processing metrics including relevant statistical data measures and complex departmental data; prepares and verifies reports, correspondence, and other documents. 9. Recommends, supports, and participates in education services, programs of education, and training, including orientation of new employees. Develop, implement, and communicate employee performance standards ensuring consistency with the duties and responsibilities contained in position descriptions. Oversees appropriate personnel and initiates disciplinary action in conjunction with division managers and supervisors. 10. Coach and assist team members in setting goals supporting the strategic initiatives of the organization. Provide input, guidance and direction through the performance review process. Create and maintain a work environment with high morale and productivity. 11. Functions as administrator in charge in the absence of the CEO, or as delegated. Acts as liaison for Board Committees as assigned. Represents TCRHCC in the community and at various community functions 12. Stays abreast of trends and regulations to ensure effectiveness of compliance for nursing/patient services. 13. Attends relevant committee, PI and management meetings as appropriate. 14. Performs other duties as assigned and/or directed.
Qualifications: Education: Master of Science in Nursing Degree Licensure & Certifications: ? A valid, current, full and unrestricted Professional Nursing License to practice nursing in any state of the United States of America, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States ? Must have and maintain a current valid BLS certification, if none, must obtain within 6 months from hire date Experience: ? Five (5) years of professional nursing experience in a hospital, health system or health care organization setting ? Five (5) years of experience in a supervisory/management position ? Experience in strategic planning and execution; excellent understanding of project management principles Other Skills and Abilities: A record of satisfactory performance in all prior and current employment as evidenced by positive employment references from previous and current employers. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing ? Ability to handle difficult situations involving patients, physicians, or others in a professional manner ? Excellent work organization skills, ability to appropriately set priorities, and manage multiple high priority demands. ? Proven high level of understanding of the healthcare industry and its regulatory environment ? Possesses excellent communication skills and demonstrates skill in sharing information with governing bodies and employees in an appropriate and timely manner; excellent negotiating skills PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Other Preferred Skills and Abilities: Ability to speak Navajo
