Summary: Reporting directly to the Tuolumne Me-Wuk Indian Health Center Board of Directors, the Medical Director is a dynamic forward-thinking medical executive leader working across multiple disciplines including medical and behavioral health in the delivery of high-quality clinical services to the Tuolumne Me-Wuk Band of Indians, other Native Americans, and the community at large. The Medical Director will provide direct clinical care (60/40 Clinical/Admin), recommend policy, implement programming, recruit qualified staff, and assess trends and medical needs of the Tuolumne Me-Wuk Tribal members and the community in the delivery of healthcare services.
Duties: 1. Give life and leadership to the Mission Statement of the Tuolumne Me-Wuk Indian Health Center, "...to provide high quality and comprehensive healthcare for the Tuolumne Me-Wuk Tribal members, other Native Americans, and residents of the surrounding communities." And promote understanding of our Mission, Vision, and Values in the delivery of high-quality services. 2. Work collaboratively with the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Director of Finance, Director of Clinical Operations, Compliance Officer, Director of Human Resources, Director of Dental Services, Director of Pharmacy, and Director of Behavioral Health as part of the Senior Leadership Team accountable for the development and implementation of "best practices" policies, procedures, initiatives, and internal controls working to the highest moral and ethical standards, with transparency, in compliance to all applicable laws, regulations, sound business practices and standards in meeting fiduciary obligations. 3. Articulate and communicate key benchmarks, milestones, and achievements both internally and externally in support of staff and services being offered while building a network of professional relationships with hospitals, physician practices, social workers, and other key influencers within the Tribe and the Communities being served. 4. In conjunction with the CAO will drive the strategic planning process to identify growth of existing services as well as development of new services. She/he will be an initiator in establishing protocols, methodologies, systems, and processes in meeting current and future desired outcomes for all medical, dental, and behavioral health.
Qualifications: 1. An MD/DO degree 2. A current California Medical License. 3. Board certification in their specialty. 4. A work history free from misconduct and malpractice. 5. Dedication to medical quality assurance, quality improvement, and risk management. 6. Excellent and effective communication skills to both patients and staff. 7. An interest in Native American culture and history. 8. Must have a valid, current California Driver's License; a personal automobile; and personal auto insurance with $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury and $100,000 property damage, or a combined $300,000 single limit. Must have a clean driving record. Must be insurable and eligible for coverage under TMWIHC policies.
