Once EPs or EHs have successfully demonstrated MU for the appropriate reporting period, they can attest for incentive payments. EPs or EHs that have elected to participate in the Medicare EHR Incentive Program must attest with CMS . EPs or EHs who elect to participate in the Medicaid EHR Incentive Program must attest and demonstrate eligibility through their state Medicaid agency's system.
For the Medicare EHR Incentive Program, an EP can designate a third party to register and attest on his or her behalf. Several steps are involved in this process, including setting up an account with the CMS Identity and Access Management System (I&A) for the party doing the attestation.
Whether an EP can assign the attestation process to another staff member for the Medicaid EHR Incentive Program is at the state's discretion. EPs will need to check with the state to learn if this functionality will be available.
