National Data Warehouse (NDW)

User Population/Workload Mart

The Userpop/Workload Mart is the section of the IHS NDW Reporting Web Site, available to registered users, that contains workload and user population information specific to each of the twelve IHS administrative areas. This information is organized into a file structure consisting of a single folder for Headquarters, an additional folder for each of the twelve areas, and a User Documentation folder.

The Userpop/Workload Mart Headquarters folder is available to personnel from the Office of Public Health Support, Division of Program Statistics (OPHS/DPS). The area folders are available only to the respective Area’s Statistical Officer and the people they authorize. The User Documentation folder is available to all registered users.

Below are some frequently asked questions specifically relating to the Userpop/Workload Mart. For Userpop or Workload specific questions, please see the FAQ tab under this section.

What are the business rules for handling UP/WL data?
What are the standard reports?
How do I access, export, or print a report?
How do I know what files are included in the UP/WL refresh?
What are the lag times for each of the steps from when data is changed at the site to when it shows up on the reports?
There is a one day lag time between when a visit is entered or modified in RPMS and when it is eligible to be exported to NPIRS. There is no lag time for RPMS registration records to be eligible for exporting.
NPIRS processes files as they are received from Monday thru Thursday. Files are likely to be processed the same day they are received, but it is not guaranteed.  The sender receives an acknowledgement email message when NPIRS receives a file, and a Post Load Report when the file has been processed.

Daily:

NPIRS updates the Export Tracking Web Site, available to all who have access to the IHS Intranet, on a real-time basis.  The SPF2.NDW Files loaded into the Data Warehouse report in the Export Tracking Mart, available to  registered users of the NDW Reporting Web Site, is based on information processed the night before.

Monthly (increasing to weekly at the end of each fiscal year):
NPIRS posts Workload reports on one Friday a month (according to the published schedule) based on information received by midnight Thursday eight days prior to the report being posted.
Less than monthly:
NPIRS posts Userpop reports five times per year (according to the published schedule) based on information received by midnight on Thursday eight days prior to the report being posted. [Close]
