Welcome to the August 2016 edition of the IHS Recruiter Insider eNewsletter series. If you have recruitment or hiring responsibility for any health profession discipline — this eNewsletter is for you!
OHR/DHPS National Training

Each year, the IHS Office of Human Resources (OHR) Division of Health Professions Support (DHPS) assesses the marketing needs and trends for local and Area recruiters and produces new (or updates existing) tools in order to assist in the recruitment and retention of health professionals. Given the wealth of materials developed each year, a thorough, annual update of all new and existing materials is held to educate recruiters and hiring officials about current strategies and tactics through a live, interactive and engaging training webinar. Last year’s National Training Webinar was a huge success in educating recruiters about trends and best practices. This year’s training will go into great detail to explain how recruiters can use national campaign materials to supplement their local recruitment and retention activities.

The 2016 National Training Webinar will be held on Wednesday, September 21 and Thursday, September 22 from 1 – 2 p.m. EST each day. This year:

  • Find out what OHR/DHPS is doing to generate health profession leads for your Area or facility.
  • Learn about resources available to you to support your local recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Hear best practices from experienced Area recruiters.
  • Learn how to use a recruitment and retention strategic plan to help meet your goals.

Update Your LRP Site Scores

IHS Loan Repayment Program (LRP) Site Scores — In an effort to ensure that clinicians working at sites with the greatest need are funded for the LRP and to encourage clinicians applying for loan repayment to apply for jobs at sites with the greatest need, your site score information must be kept up to date. Please work with your IHS Discipline Lead to be included in the upcoming LRP discipline-specific site score list — due mid-September for LRP award consideration in 2017. If you are unsure of your IHS Discipline Lead, please contact the Loan Repayment Program directly at (301) 443-3396.
