INSTALLATION NOTES FOR ADVERSE REACTION TRACKING PATCH 1009

1. GENERAL INFORMATION

	a) *** Please note: this patch should only be installed at sites that 
               are running Outpatient Pharmacy v7.0 ***

	b) Print all notes/readme files.
	
	c) It is recommended that the terminal output during the installation 
           be captured. This will insure a printed audit trail if any problems 
           should arise.

        d) Ensure that TaskMan is running.

		

3. MODIFICATIONS/ENHANCEMENTS INCLUDED IN THIS PATCH

	1.National updates to the files 120.82 (GMR ALLERGIES) and 
          120.83 (SIGNS/SYMPTOMS)

	2. A pre-init routine will check for any allergies entered with 
	   incorrect data in the .03 field. It will correct the data.
	

4. CONTENTS OF DISTRIBUTION

	a) gmra0400.1009k  - IHS KIDS build containing the VistA updates.

        b) gmra0400.1009n  - This notes file. Please follow the installation 
                             instructions found in this file.

5. REQUIREMENTS

	GMRA V4.0 Patch 1008

6. PRE-INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
	Before GMRA v4.0 patch 1009 is installed, ensure that at least one person 
        or group is assigned to the GMRA REQUEST NEW REACTANT mailman group.  
        If another group is assigned to the GMRA REQUEST NEW REACTANT mailman 
        group, ensure that at least one person is assigned to that member group.  
        The mailman bulletins sent to this group are extremely important to 
        review and act upon.

7. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

	 Users may be on the system during installation of this patch, though this
         patch should be loaded during non-peak hours to minimize disruption to
         users.  

	 a) Save off the GMR Allergy globals prior to installing patch

         - Use D ^%GOGEN to create a backup of the ^GMRD(120.82 global.
         - Use D ^%GOGEN to create a backup of the ^GMRD(120.83 global.
	 
	 This is only done in case there is a problem with the installation 
         and you need to restore the old globals.

	  Do the same for file ^GMRD(120.83

	 b) Use the Kernel Installation & Distribution System menu [XPD MAIN] 
         to load (option 1) and install (option 6) the following KIDS 
         builds. Verify each load using option 2 on the KIDS Installation
         menu to ensure that the transport file is not corrupt. Consider 
         using options 3 and 4 on the KIDS Installation menu to print and
         compare the Transport global.

 
	c) When loading the file, answer YES to all questions. When installing, 
        answer NO to all questions.  

	d) Installation time:  < 5 minutes for the installation and up to 24 hours
        for completion of the background tasks depending on the amount of data
        to be updated.

        e) ADI (Allergy Domain Implementation/Data Standardization) uses a 
        resource device to control the updating of existing patient 
        allergies/adverse reactions.  When changes are made to existing allergy
        definitions in file 120.82, all associated patient allergies/adverse 
        reactions in file 120.8 are updated to match the new definition of 
        the entry from 120.82.  The resource device controls the updating 
        process.  Because of the way the updates are implemented, the 
        resource device needs to manage the updates one at a time.  As a 
        result, the resource slots field is set to ONE and should NOT 
        be changed. 

        - Check TaskMan Monitor to ensure that the GMRA UPDATE RESOURCE is 
          not clogged.  If it is, use the Clear One Resource option to unclog
          the resource device.  There are several hundred tasks created in
          Taskman when the patch is installed that will continue to run
          after KIDS indicates that the patch was successfully installed. 

          Checking the IO Lists:  Last TM scan: 0 sec,
             Device: GMRA UPDATE RESOURCE is not available, with 573 tasks 
                     waiting.
          The number of tasks waiting should decrease over time as the 
          Taskman Monitor is updated, but each decrement may take 35 minutes
          or more to occur.    

8. POST INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

        One or more emails will be sent to recipients of the GMRA VERIFY DRUG 
        ALLERGY mail group containing details on how to clean the Adverse 
        Reaction Package data if there are any issues.
