INSTALLATION NOTES FOR LABORATORY SERVICE PATCH 7 ===================================================================== PREFIX: LR, LA, AND BLR CURRENT VERSION: 5.2 PATCH 7 4/5/99 ===================================================================== *****NOTE*****NOTE*****NOTE*****NOTE*****NOTE*****NOTE*****NOTE***** ********************************************************************** * READ THE ENTIRE NOTES FILE PRIOR TO ATTEMPTING ANY INSTALLATION! * ********************************************************************* *****NOTE*****NOTE*****NOTE*****NOTE*****NOTE*****NOTE*****NOTE***** 1. GENERAL INFORMATION a). Print all notes/readme files. Because this is only a routine restore process, users may remain on the system. The installation time should take only a couple of minutes. We always recommend a complete backup before any patches are installed. Verify that you have a current backup. In the event that you get a CLOBR error during installation, it means that a lab user was running the option "count accessioned tests" while the patch was being installed or the task to clean the transaction log was running in the background. Simply reinstall the patch if the error occurs. Reinstalling the patch is non-destructive. PATCHES 1 through 6 must be installed before this patch is installed. This patch DOES NOT check to see if patches 1-6 have been installed. b). It is recommended that the terminal output during installation be captured using an auxport printer attached to the terminal at which you are performing the patch installation. This will ensure a printed audit trail if any problems should arise. c). PLEASE SEE THE NOTES FILE (lr__0520.07p) FOR COMPLETE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR THIS PATCH. This patch is a routine restore only. 2. CONTENTS OF DISTRIBUTION a). lr__0520.07n - Notes file for installation of this patch. b). lr__0520.07p - Patch routines. LR*5.2*1007 Patch Description Information: The routine to clean up old transactions in the IHS LAB TRANSACTION LOG file (BLRCU) defaults to 10 days instead of the recommended 180 days. Doing a routine restore of this patch will overlay the incorrect routine with the routine that has the correct default. This routine is normally run as a taskman utility described below. The routine to COUNT ACCESSIONED TESTS (LRUPACA) does not form feed properly when the task has been sent to a printer. The routine works properly when displayed to a CRT or with previous releases of the Kernel. The routine has been modified to pass the proper form feed command and is also included. Doing a routine restore of this patch will overlay the incorrect routine with the routine that has the correct form feed process. 5. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS a). *** YOU MUST HAVE PROGRAMMER ACCESS TO SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE THIS INSTALLATION.*** b). This patch is only a routine restore process. Do a routine restore of the file lr__0520.07p. See example process below. c). Schedule the task BLRTASK LAB LOG CLEANUP DESCRIPTION: This task will cleanup entries in the IHS LAB TRANSACTION LOG along with the queue file, BLR MASTER CONTROL, used for processing the transactions. The clean up is based on the value of the GRACE PERIOD FOR ORDERS parameter in the LABORATORY SITE file. The default is 180 days if the GRACE PERIOD FOR ORDERS is not defined. Schedule this option to run during off hours. After the initial (first time) run, this option should only run for a short time each day and have little impact on the journal space. NOTE: SITE MANAGER - WATCH THE JOURNAL SPACE WHEN THIS UTILITY IS FIRST RUN. A LARGE SITE WHICH HAS MANY ENTRIES IN THE TRANSACTION LOG MAY FILL UP MORE THAN ONE JOURNAL SPACE. d).
