INSTALLATION NOTES FOR IHS LABORATORY SERVICE PATCH 22 KIDS FORMAT ====================================================================== PREFIX: LR, LA, BLR and BLS CURRENT VERSION: 5.2 KIDS PATCH 22 ====================================================================== ******NOTE*****NOTE*****NOTE*****NOTE*****NOTE*****NOTE*****NOTE****** ********************************************************************** ** ** ** READ THE ENTIRE NOTES FILE BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY INSTALLATION! ** ** ** ** PLEASE PERFORM A BACKUP BEFORE INSTALLING THIS PATCH. ** ** ** ********************************************************************** ******NOTE*****NOTE*****NOTE*****NOTE*****NOTE*****NOTE*****NOTE****** 1. GENERAL INFORMATION a). Print all notes/readme files. b). Please contact the IHS/OIT Help desk if you have any questions and/or issues. Phone: (505) 248-4371 (888) 830-7280 Fax: (505) 248-4363 (505) 248-4199 Web: http://www.ihs.gov/GeneralWeb/HelpCenter/Helpdesk/index.cfm Email: ITSCHelp@ihs.gov c). *************************************************************** * DO NOT INSTALL THIS PATCH * * IF THE LAB MANAGER HAS NOT READ THE * * LABORATORIAN'S GUIDE. * *************************************************************** d). There are pre-install instructions in the Laboratorian's Guide as well as this file. See Appendix A. e). This install must be done WITHOUT users on the Lab System! f). A complete backup should be done BEFORE any patches are in- stalled. Verify that you have a current backup. g). This patch IS NOT cumulative; i.e., you must install all lab patches in sequence up through and including patch 1021 before installing this patch. h). The PCC link (BLRTN) will need to be stopped. i). The Patient Chart listener (BGUTCPL) should be stopped if you utilize that package. j). All lab users need to be off the system. Other users can still continue to work. k). Taskman Should be Stopped during this install and restarted after the installation is complete. NOTE: When Taskman is turned off all tasks and print jobs will be delayed until after you turn it back on after the install. l). If you encounter an error during the install, the patch will NOT have been installed correctly. You will need to re- install the patch. m). It is recommended that the terminal output during installation be captured using an auxport printer attached to the terminal where you are performing the patch installation. This will ensure a printed audit trail if any problems should arise. n). This install will need approximately 15 MB of space. Because Cache automatically expands, make sure there is 15 MB of free space on the Cache disk. o). This install will take approximately 30 minutes to install. It is possible the install may take much longer. Because the LOINC dictionary is updated by VA LR*5.2*302, the install may appear to "pause" for an inordinately long time during the LR*5.2*302 install phase. Please be patient. p). After the KIDS build has been installed, please run the Verify Checksums in Transport Global option of the INSTALL menu. See example install listing. q). The CHECKSUM routine (BLRP22PC) should be run after the INSTALL has been completed. If an error is detected, an e-mail will be sent to ALL members of the LMI mail group. It is IMPORTANT that any error be reported to the IHS/OIT HELP desk immediately. The routine should be run by the site manager in programmer mode. See the POST INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS section. r). This patch adds and/or updates numerous routines, fields and/or data dictionaries. See the addenda for functional details. The following routines were added/modified: IHS Patch Routine ----- ------- 1022 BLR6249P 1022 BLRALBA 1022 BLRBBDDC 1022 BLRCHGER 1022 BLRCHGPL 1022 BLRCHGPW 1022 BLRESIGR 1022 BLRESRCD 1022 BLRESRNS 1022 BLREXECU 1022 BLRGMENU 1022 BLRLABLC 1022 BLRLINK2 1022 BLRMERG2 1022 BLRMPRL 1022 BLRP22PC 1022 BLRPCCVC 1022 BLRPRE22 1022 BLRSHDRC 1022 BLRUTIL2 1022 LR7OF1 1022 LR7OF3 1022 LRCE 1022 LRLABEL 1022 LRLABLIO 1022 LRMIPSU 1022 LRRP1 1022 LRTOCOST 1022 LRUPAC 1022 LRUPACA 1022 LRWRKIN1 1022 LRWRKINC VA Patch Routine ----- ------- 287 LR287 287 LRVR4 289 LREGFR 299 LR7OF1 299 LR7OFB0 299 LR7OU0 302 LR302 302 LR302A 302 LR302P 302 LR302PO 302 LR302POA 302 LRDAGE 305 LR305 305 LRDPA 307 LR307 307 LRCAPDAR 310 LR7OR1 310 LRDPA1 310 LRDPA2 312 LR7OGM 312 LR7OGMC 312 LR7OGMM 312 LR7OGMU 313 LR313 313 LREGFR 340 LR7OR1 2. SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS a). Because the LMI Mail Group is used by IHS and VA install routines as a way of alerting system/site managers to issues, problems, and/or notices during Lab installs, it is highly recommended that the site manager and the lab supervisor be a member of the LMI Mail Group. b). For example, to add MANAGER,SITE to the LMI Mail Group: PRD>D P^DI VA FileMan 22.0 Select OPTION: ENTER OR EDIT FILE ENTRIES INPUT TO WHAT FILE: DEVICE// MAIL GROUP (64 entries) EDIT WHICH FIELD: ALL// Select MAIL GROUP NAME: LMI NAME: LMI// Select MEMBER: MANAGER,SITE// DESCRIPTION: 1> TYPE: public// ORGANIZER: COORDINATOR: Select AUTHORIZED SENDER: ALLOW SELF ENROLLMENT?: RESTRICTIONS: UNRESTRICTED// Select MEMBER GROUP NAME: ^ 5. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS a). Log in as a system manager and go to programmer mode. D ^XUP and choose the option KERNEL INSTALLATION AND DISTRIBUTION b). Choose INSTALLATION, and LOAD the kids patch lr__0520.22k c). Install the patch choosing LR*5.2*1022. See example process below. d.) If doing multiple installs, you must say YES to accept the reinstallation of the various VA patches that are part of this IHS Patch. e) Other than the over-riding the NO prompts for re-installation, it is necesssary to accept default prompts during the install, except enter NO at the Want KIDS to INHIBIT LOGONs during the install prompt. f.) Environment Errors If the Environment checker section of the BLRPRE22 routine encounters an error, it will print out a notice, send an e-mail to the members of the LMI Mail Group, and delete the install. After the issue is corrected, the install process will have to begin again from the beginning. For example, if the LMI MAIL GROUP is missing, it will print something like the following: ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++ Begin example of ENVIRONMENT CHECK error +++++ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Must have 'LMI' mail group present. ***************************************************************** Site: IHS/OIT TEST Install Aborting due to the following Systems Environment issue: >>> 'LMI' mail group NOT found! <<< Please print/capture this screen and notify the Support Center at 1-888-830-7280. ***************************************************************** ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++ End example of ENVIRONMENT CHECK error +++++ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ f.) The LOINC dictionary will either be downloaded or updated, depending upon the site. There is considerable PRE-installation file verification and preparation to be performed by staff familiar with the use of FileMan and Laboratory file structure. Failure to perform this pre-install testing BEFORE attempting to install this patch significantly INCREASES the risk of encountering er- rors, during or post installation. The key element of ensur- ing a successful installation of this patch depends upon existing files not containing corrupt data. If corrupt data are present in the effected files, when the fields are re- pointed during the post installation update phase, errors WILL occur. The relevant passages from VA Patch 302 Sequence 250 notes file follows: ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++ VA Patch 302 Sequence 250 Notes Begin +++++ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ This patch will completely remove certain files, replace the files with a standardized copy and then re-point the saved field entries to the standardized copy. It is high desirable to determine that current fields and files are free of incorrect data. This will ensure that the patch installation will not introduce any new errors. Failure to ensure FileMan verification of fields option can be run without generating warnings will result in unresolved errors, which could have unpredictable results. The patch installation will not be affected by an invalid field. The patch will generate error message indicating those files/fields that could not be successfully re-pointed after the standardized have been installed. *** Examples of a single file verify: Select OPTION NAME: VA FileMan VA FileMan Version 22.0 Select VA FileMan Option: Utility Functions Select Utility Functions Option: VERify Fields MODIFY WHAT FILE: WKLD CODE// 60 LABORATORY TEST (1059 entries) VERIFY WHICH FIELD: ALL DO YOU MEAN ALL THE FIELDS IN THE FILE? YES DEVICE: HOME// While the entire file should pass the verify fields check, the fields listed below are the critical entries that should not produce any warnings. If there are any warnings for these fields, they should be rectified before the patch is installed or the post install re-pointing procedure will not perform properly. This is a list of files and fields that will be re-pointed after the LAB ELECTRONIC CODES (#64.061) is installed. These fields should be free of verify field warnings. Errors or warnings in other fields WILL NOT affect the post-install re-pointing process but should be addressed as soon a possible. To ensure that there are not any existing pointer problems, files and fields need to be validated. Data and file validation is done with the FM Verify Fields option. Only those fields pointing to the replaced files and the WKLD CODE file are an issue. NO PRE-INSTALL CORRECTIVE ACTION IS REQUIRED for these errors. Other types of errors may require assistance from the EVS technical teams before proceeding. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++ VA Patch 302 Sequence 250 Notes End +++++ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ********************************************************************** ***** Addendum B - LA7 Message Queue Error Messages to Purgeable ***** ********************************************************************** This new option on the IHS Lab Main Support Menu will allow the Lab Supervisor to change the messages in the LA7 MESSAGE QUEUE (File # 62.49) that have a status of ERROR to a status of PURGEABLE so that the messages will be deleted from the queue, freeing valuable space. This new option has been created because ERROR messages are NEVER purged. ********************************************************************** ***** Addendum C – Non-Microbial State Health Department Report ***** ********************************************************************** The Non-Microbial State Health Department report BLRSHDRC routine had a potential issue with patients with no address filled out in the VA Patient file. A check has been added that will return a NULL string if there is no address in the VA Patient file. This will mean the patient with no address will have none printed on the report. ********************************************************************** ***** Addendum D – COUNT TESTS reports ***** ********************************************************************** The LR COUNT ACC TESTS and Lab accession and test counts reports could display inconsistent totals due to counting certain accessions twice. This would occur when an accession was entered on one day and completed on another. This count- ing twice issue has been resolved by keeping track of the accessions. Both the LRUPAC and LRUPACA routines have been modified. ********************************************************************** ***** Addendum E – E-SIG reports ***** ********************************************************************** This patch adds a new set of E-Sig reports. Two new routines were created to accomplish this, BLRESIGR and BLRESIGB. Please see the detailed documentation in the Laboratorian's Guide. ********************************************************************** ***** Addendum F – PCC Visit Creation ***** ********************************************************************** The PCC Visit creation routine BLRLINK2 has been modified and a new routine, BLRPCCVC, has been created so the SAC standard API calls to create new PCC visits will be used in- stead of obsolete calls. ********************************************************************** ***** Addendum G – BLR MASTER CONTROL FILE & INTERIM REPORTS ***** ********************************************************************** This patch adds 4 new fields to the BLR MASTER CONTROL file: (1) INTERIM REPORT LINE 1 (2) INTERIM REPORT LINE 2 (3) INTERIM REPORT DO NOT FILE (4) INTERIM REPORT ADDRESS PAGE FileMan must be used to edit these fields. If the INTERIM REPORT LINE 1 field is filled out, then the Interim Report routine LRRP1 will use that entry as the 1st line of information to print after the CLINICAL LABORATORY REPORT line. This will replace the information that is normally retrieved from the Institution file. If the INTERIM REPORT LINE 2 field is filled out, then the LRRP1 routine will use the entry as the second line of the header. If the INTERIM REPORT DO NOT FILE field is set to NO, the DO NOT FILE phrase *WILL NOT* be printed on the report. If the field is either YES or blank, the DO NOT FILE phrase *WILL BE* printed on the report. If the INTERIM REPORT ADDRESS PAGE field is set to NO, the address page that is normally printed AFTER each patient's test(s) pages *WILL NOT* be printed. If it is blank or set to YES, then the address page *WILL* be printed. NOTE: the Microbiology Cumulative report also uses the same routines to print its header information, so if the fields are populated, the data in the new fields will be printed for the Microbiology reports as well. It will not be the the information from the Institution file. ********************************************************************** ***** Addendum H – INTERIM AND CUMULATIVE REPORT ROUTINES ***** ********************************************************************** This patch modifies the BLRUTIL2, LRRP1, and LRRP2 INTERIM REPORT and CUMULATIVE REPORT routines so they will (1) print the information stored in the new fields in the BLR MASTER CONTROL file; and (2) print the performing lab address on the INTERIM and CUMULATIVE reports, if information exists. ********************************************************************** ***** Addendum I – BLOOD BANK DATA DICTIONARY CORRECTION(S) ***** ********************************************************************** This patch includes the BLRBBDDC routine that will modify the Blood Bank data dictionaries if and only if there is a problem in the input transform. This occurs only at certain sites. ********************************************************************** ***** Addendum J – V MICROBIOLOGY Data Dictionary ***** ********************************************************************** This patch modifies the V MICROBIOLOGY data dictionary's RESULT field from 10 charactesr to 80 characters. This will allow meaningful results to pass over to PCC from the Lab package. ********************************************************************** ***** Addendum K – EHR CLINICAL INDICATION MODIFICATIONS ***** ********************************************************************** This patch modifies the LR7OF1 and LR70F3 routines to allow the CLINICAL INDICATION be displayed in EHR. ********************************************************************** ***** Addendum L – ORDERED TEST COST BY PROVIDER Routine ***** ********************************************************************** This patch modifies the LRTOCOST routine to fix an error when running the ORDERED TEST COST BY PROVIDER routine from the Lab Statistics menu. It was caused by patients not having a SSN. There was also an issue with not printing a detailed patient listing when that option was selected. It was caused by in- advertent code changes in Patch 18 that have been corrected. ********************************************************************** ***** Addendum M – MICRO PATIENT REPORT Routine ***** ********************************************************************** This patch modifies the LRMIPSU routine to force the printing of the Institution Name and address in the heading of each of the patient centric Microbiology reports. ********************************************************************** ***** Addendum N – CHANGE PROVIDER/LOCATION Routine ***** ********************************************************************** This patch modifies the BLRCHGPL routine to prevent the change to Provider and/or Location if the Order is from OERR (EHR). This change was necessiated by OERR. ********************************************************************** ***** Addendum O – REFERENCE LAB INTERFACE Routines change ***** ********************************************************************** This patch modifies three Reference Lab Interface routines: BLRRIIN, BLRRIIN1, and BLRIIN2. This change will filter out only final reports coming in. ********************************************************************** ***** Addendum P – VA Patches ***** ********************************************************************** This patch includes 9 additional VA Patches: 1. VA PATCH 289: DELTA CHECK FOR EGFR TEST (NOTE: DOES NOT REPLACE IHS VERSION OF EGFR) 2. VA PATCH 287: PROCESS AUTO INSTRUMENT DUPLICATE COMMENTS 3. VA PATCH 299: REMOVE BAD BB FIELD REFERENCE 4.
