GENERAL INFORMATION a. Print all notes/readme files b. It is recommended that the terminal output during the Installation be captured using an auxport printer attached To the terminal at which you are performing the software installation. This will insure a printed audit trail if any problems arise. 2. CONTENTS OF DISTRIBUTION a. xm__0710.03k.gz (KIDS transport global) b. xm__0710.03n (this notes file) 3. REQUIREMENTS a. Kernel 8.0 (the patch is in KIDS format and requires Kernel 8) b. Mailman 7.1 4. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: a. It is recommended that you use a terminal which has true VT-100 emulation during this installation (NOT THE CONSOLE ON A RISC MACHINE SINCE IT IS AN IBM 3151). The video display on a terminal which is NOT emulating a VT-100, will not display properly using KIDS (Kernel Installation and Distribution System). NOTE: KIDS files must be transferred (ftp'd) in ascii mode. The file will not restore properly if it was transferred in binary mode. The KIDS install file, xm__0710.03k.gz is zipped and must be unzipped. Move the file to a directory on your system where there is enough room to unzip it (unzipped it is 3497124 bytes or 3.42MB). On an AIX/UNIX machine, use the command "gunzip xm__0710.03k.gz". On a DOS or NT machine, use WINzip to expand it. Note the full pathname where the file is stored as you will need the full pathname later in these instructions. b. This patch should be loaded without users on the system and without Mailman jobs running such as XMRTCP, XMRINETD, XMADJ999, XMADJF0. The easiest way to ensure that no users can access the system during the installation or that Mailman processes are NOT running, is to shutdown M and bring it back up in single-user mode (sumsm). c. Once you are in single-user mode, you will have to stop journalling for the UCI in which you are loading the mailman patch. To do this, go to MGR UCI, D ^UCIMGR, choose 4 -Edit UCI Parameters.
