Activity: Mechanical

Keyword: Hi Demand HVAC Space

CSO No.:15700

Background:
Areas (rooms) with special environmental requirements (Labs, Pharm, Sterile Rm., etc.) need supplemental or separate independent HVAC zones and controls. At present they are on larger HVAC zones and are having problems maintaining required environmental conditions.

Lessons Learned:
Special environmental conditions can only be met with special or separate controls and zones for those special rooms. During design, rooms with heat producing equipment (Ice makers, Freezers, etc.), need careful review to provide for these loads.

Recommended Action:
Identify areas with special HVAC requirements and design HVAC systems and controls with capacity and flexibility to meet these needs.
