IHS-02-11-001
Release Date: February 28, 2011Subject: CCR Performance Issues
The Central Contractor Registration (CCR) database implemented a hardware and software
upgrade on February 19, 2011. Since then, CCR has experienced severe slowness and
performance issues. All development and testing resources are focused on diagnosing
and correcting the problem.
An integral part of registering in CCR is getting the Commercial And Government Entity (CAGE) code. Demand for CAGE codes is outpacing the processing capacity. The CAGE backlog has essentially placed hundreds of records on “hold” since the end of January. That means several weeks worth of CCR registrations have not been finalized. The CCR team is developing an automated script to assist in processing some of the CAGE code requests. The support staff are also working overtime with the CAGE advocates to resolve issues on a case-by-case basis.
The system performance combined with the CAGE code backlog contributed to an overall backlog in CCR registrations and updates. At this point in time, there could be up to a several week delay compared to normal processing times. We are working to reduce the backlog and prevent future occurrences of this using a combination of automation and personnel resources.
The CCR Emergency Notification message has been updated on the CCR website (
https://www.bpn.gov/ccr/ ).
), distributed talking points to the customer service representatives and
are responding to queries as they arise. We will keep you informad as the situation
develops. The IHS, Division of Grants Management Operations and Policy, recommends that
you contact our office immediately if you experience problems with registration as a
new applicant in the CCR system. Please email us at
GrantsPolicy@ihs.gov or call our IHS Grants Systems Coordinator on (301) 443-2114.
