Summary:

This online course presents current information regarding alcoholism and fetal alcohol syndrome, as well as the dental management of patients affected by alcoholism. This interactive program includes a presentation of information on specific topics followed by practice in the form of multiple-choice and true/false questions. This format provides you with immediate feedback to reinforce key learning concepts for different topics, and prepare you for the final quiz.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

1. Define alcoholism and its effects on different body systems.
3. Discuss contraindications of medciations for the alcoholic patient.
4. Identify considerations when treating patients with alcohol problems.
5. Describe fetal alcohol syndrome [FAS] and fetal alcohol effect [FAE].
6. List considerations when treating patients with FAS/FAE.
7. Explain the purpose and components of CAGE questionnaire.

Tuition Policy:

Tuition must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to the start date of any course. Request for refunds must be received in writing at least two weeks before the course begins. For each refund request, there will be an administrative charge of $100. No refunds will be made to registrants who fail to attend a course. If IHS CDE program cancels a course, then 100% of the tuition will be refunded.
