Summary:

Dr. Smith's presentation: Discuss the article in JAMA December 18, 2013 “The Effect of Nonsurgical Periodontal Therapy on Hemoglobin A1C levels in persons with Type 2 diabetes and chronic periodontitis”authored by Engebretson, et al.
Dr. Schroth's presentation: Discuss the recent article “Prenatal Vitamin D and Dental Caries in Infants” by Schroth, et al, 2014.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this session, the pariticipant will be able to:
Dr. Smith:
1. Review the findings of the Engebretson article.
2. Recognize how it fits into existing clinical trials on the same subject.

Dr. Schroth:
1. Discuss the prevalence of Vit D deficiency during pregnancy.
2. Explain the prevalence of Early Childhood Caries in infants.
3. Review the association between prenatal Vit D levels and caries in infants.

Tuition Policy:

Tuition must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to the start date of any course. Request for refunds must be received in writing at least two weeks before the course begins. For each refund request, there will be an administrative charge of $100. No refunds will be made to registrants who fail to attend a course. If IHS CDE program cancels a course, then 100% of the tuition will be refunded.
