DE0645: Cancer Amongst the Native Population
The purpose of this course is to educate attendees of cancer trends amongst the Alaska Native population over the last forty-five years. Dr. Nash will describe how the Alaska tumor registry compiles cancer data. The course will highlight cancer differences between the Alaska Native population and the US population as a whole.
Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:
1. Understand cancer disparities amongst the Native Alaskan population compared to the rest of the US population
2. Grasp how the Alaska tumor registry collects cancer data for epidemiological research
3. Identify how certain environmental and lifestyle factors may be associated with the higher incidence of cancer in the Native population

Tuition must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to the start date of any course. Request for refunds must be received in writing at least two weeks before the course begins. For each refund request, there will be an administrative charge of $100. No refunds will be made to registrants who fail to attend a course. If IHS CDE program cancels a course, then 100% of the tuition will be refunded.
