Pursuant to the authorities delegated to the Director, Indian Health Service (IHS), as specified in the Department of Health and Human Services, Public Health Service, Manual: Personnel, Chapter Series Commissioned Corps Personnel Manual, Part 2, Chapter 27, “Recognition and Awards,” I hereby delegate the following authorities to:

Approve the Commendation Medal, Achievement Medal, PHS Citation, and the Unit Commendation;
Present the Meritorious Service Medal, Outstanding Service Medal, Outstanding Unit Citation, Commendation Medal, PHS Citation, and Unit Commendation;

AUTHORITY TO REDELEGATE

These authorities may not be redelegated.

RESTRICTIONS AND LIMITATIONS

The Director, IHS, retains the final authority to approve the Commendation Medal and the Unit Commendation Medal.

SUPERSESSION

This delegation supersedes the previous delegation of authority located in the Indian Health Manual, Commissioned Corps Delegation #5 dated May 5, 1989.

EFFECTIVE DATE

This delegation is effective on the date of signature.
