BACKGROUND:

The purpose, objectives and general areas of responsibility of the Division's Nutrition and Dietetics Branch were defined in the original issuance of Part 3, Chapter 5, Sections 1 through 5A, forwarded by Transmittal Notice No. 24, June 5, 1961.  The attachments (1) define staff responsibilities and relationships for Area Nutrition and Dietetic Officers and Area Dietary Consultants, and (2) outline additional responsibilities and establish Division policies, standards, procedures, and general guides for effective accomplishment of some of the dietetic and food service objectives.
