  • EIN - Employer Identification Number. A unique number assigned by the Internal Revenue Service to organizations, similar to a Social Security Number for an individual.   • DUNS - The Data Universal Numbering System was developed and is maintained by Dun & Bradstreet. A DUNS number is a unique identifier all entities must have in order to do business with the Federal government.

Helpful Reminders:

  • Register early! Registration at Exit Disclaimer: You Are Leaving is required and can take up to 1 to 3 weeks or more and MUST be completed prior to the application submission and deadline.
    • Verify that your organization is registered with the new System for Award Management Exit Disclaimer: You Are Leaving (SAM). You must maintain an active entity registration (formerly Central Contractor Registration [CCR]) to be renewed at least annually. Use the "Manage Entity" function to manage your entity registrations.   • Carefully follow the requirements found in the application guide and funding opportunity announcement. Instructions in the FOA supersede those found in the application guide.
  • Check your application for common application submission errors before you transmit your application.

  • Submit early. The best way to reduce stress and ensure successful submission is to submit well ahead of the due date.
