Announcing the VistA Imaging Website

VistA Imaging (VI)

VistA Imaging (VI) supplies the multimedia component that completes the functionality of the RPMS Electronic Health Record (EHR). VI enables EHR users to view scanned documents and clinical images (photos, radiographs, etc.) that are linked to a patient's electronic record. It also provides Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) capabilities for the long-term storage of images. IHS implemented its first VistA Imaging system at the Portland Area Office in 2006, followed by the Nashville Area, Navajo Area, Billings Area, Phoenix Area, and several tribal facilities in Oklahoma and Alaska. Currently, there are approximately 41 facilities using VistA Imaging.

The goal of the IHS is to provide clinicians with access to all images and text data in an integrated manner that facilitates the clinician's task of correlating the data and making patient care decisions in a timely and accurate manner.

For more information on implementation, training, and current status of roll out visit the new VistA Imaging website.
