12th Annual Direct Service Tribes National Meeting

Come Join Us!

The 12th Annual Direct Service Tribes (DST) National Meeting will be held at the High Country Conference Center in Flagstaff, Arizona. Please join us as Direct Service Tribal leaders and Federal healthcare officials convene to discuss today's direct health care delivery system.

This 2-day meeting will focus discussions on key strategies and issues facing DST and identify challenges and opportunities. Also provide updates on current legislative actions affecting DST - Affordable Care Act (ACA), Indian Health Care Improvement Act, and best practices for communication and collaboration with IHS Leadership and Tribal Health Programs.

In addition to the speakers who will address the General Assembly, we have a wide array of breakout sessions on specific topics of interest to you. Potential breakout sessions include important healthcare topics such as: recruitment and retention, American Indian youth initiatives, ACA, traditional medicine in healthcare, purchased and referred care, healthcare facility construction, long term care, contract support costs, Veterans Affairs and behavioral health.

Who Should Attend

The DST National Meeting is primarily to discuss and address health issues and challenges affecting the DST and Indian Country. The DST are tribes who receive primary health care services from the Indian Health Service. These services includes: direct patient care such as internal medicine, pediatrics, women's health, and dental and optometry services.

This meeting is open to anyone, preferably Tribal Leaders/staff and health administrators/staff, DST/staff, DST Advisory Committee Area Representatives, National Organizations, Federal staff from local, Area, National levels (DST Advisory Committee Federal Liaisons), and other interested parties that has an interest learning about DST.

This meeting provides an opportunity for Tribal leaders to learn of the changing health environment, and the impact of congressional, federal, structural and policy changes regarding their health care services. This meeting also provides Tribal leaders an opportunity to collaborate with other leaders on the common health issues and concerns that all face as well as bring forward their specific Tribal health issues to the key leadership.

Registration

There is no registration fee to attend this meeting but pre-registration is preferred and encouraged to ensure attendees receive all meeting materials.
