Phoenix Area and National Medical Imaging (Radiology)

Phoenix Area and National program director for Medical Imaging Program (MIP) consultant serves as an advisor to the Area Director, tribes and area programs on all issues concerning Medical Imaging services, i.e.
  • Radiology
  • Mammography
  • Sonography
  • CT and MRI scanning
  • Tele-Radiography or Telemedicine-Tele-Imaging activities
  • DXA Bone Density

Responsibilities include planning and implementation of new program goals and objectives to meet the needs of the medical facilities providing various types of medical imaging services.

Recruitment of technologists, Radiologists, review contract proposals for services and recommend equipment for replacement and additional imaging services, e.g. electronic imaging equipment for conversion from film to film-less technology digital (CR Computed or DR Direct Radiography) equipment. Numerous facilities have converted from analog film imaging to digital electronic imaging, both IHS and Tribal or Urban programs. Some areas are 100% digital, they are Alaska and Navajo area's, while others are part way or most of the way converted to digital imaging.

Director IHS MIP serves as a consultant to the Area Director, Headquarters director IHS, Tribal, Urban and field programs.

Director serves as a national consultant for Imaging services for IHS, Tribal and Urban programs.
