The IHS Nutrition Seminar & Indigenous Food Coalition Workshop will be held March 12-14, 2013 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This event will provide an opportunity to:
- engage nutrition and health professionals to increase access to affordable healthier foods in Indian Communities
- move toward achieving healthy weight in Indian Communities
- share updates, new ideas, and learn the successes and challenges from Indigenous Food Coalitions
- receive accredited continuing education credits
Who Should Attend
The seminar is designed for IHS/Tribal/Urban Registered Dietitians and Public Health Nutritionists, Nurses, Health Promotion Coordinators, and other interested healthcare professionals.Training Location

Lodging Information
A room block is available at the Hotel Albuquerque at Old Town at the Federal Government per diem rate of $81 plus 13% tax per room, per night (single/double occupancy). Reservations can be made by contacting the hotel directly at (505) 843-6300 or the toll free number (800) 237-2133 by February 12, 2013*. To receive the group rate, ask for the IHS Nutrition Meeting. Hotel Albuquerque is located two blocks from I-40 providing easy access to all areas of the city. The Albuquerque International Airport is 7 miles away, or a 10 minute drive. Hotel Albuquerque does not provide a shuttle; however, shuttle services are available through Sunport Shuttle. Shuttle transfers cost approximately $28.00 per person round trip, with discounts available for multiple passengers on the same ticket. Local taxi fares are available.*Please note after the hotel cut-off date, any remaining rooms within the block will be released to the hotel’s general inventory.
Accreditation
The Indian Health Service, Nutrition and Dietetics Training Program (N&DTP) is a Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Accredited Provider with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). IHS N&DTP approves CPE credits for IHS sponsored programs for Registered Dietitians and Dietetic Technician Registered.The IHS Clinical Support Center is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
Conference Registration
Space is limited. There is no registration fee to attend.Exception: Tribes who have taken Tribal Shares from the Nutrition and Dietetics Training Program (N&DTP) are asked to pay a Registration fee of $400.00. Checks should be made payable to the “Indian Health Service,” note that fee is for the 2013 Nutrition Seminar, and send the check to: Nutrition Program, 801 Thompson Avenue #120, Rockville, MD 20852.
Meals will be on your own.
