Please join the National Indian Health Board (NIHB) this Friday for an important information session on COVID 19 vaccine planning.

 

The purpose of this NIHB webinar is to introduce Tribal leaders to COVID-19 vaccine distribution options and planning considerations. The webinar will include an overview of the federal government’s COVID-19 vaccine planning activities, and will highlight considerations for Tribal leaders and health organizations serving Tribal and urban Indian communities making decisions about vaccine distribution.

The goal of the webinar is to provide background information about COVID-19 vaccine development and potential distribution scenarios in preparation for the HHS regional Tribal consultation calls about COVID-19 vaccine distribution.

RADM Francis Frazier, Indian Health Service (IHS)

Rear Adm. Francis Frazier is the Director for the Indian Health Service Office of Public Health Support (OPHS) at IHS Headquarters. Frazier is an enrolled member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe.

As Director of OPHS, Rear Adm. Frazier leads the team that provides nationwide research and public health response activities for IHS. OPHS oversees disease epidemiology, prevention, and control activities for both infectious and chronic diseases. OPHS produces statistical information and publications on American Indian and Alaska Native health widely used by policymakers, journalists, and health administrators.

Amy Groom, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

Amy Groom is a CDC Public Health Advisor, assigned to the Indian Health Service where she has served as the IHS Immunization Program Manger since 2001. In this capacity, she works with CDC, IHS, state and tribal immunizaion programs across the country to develop immunization policy and implement immunization programs. She coordinates the development of the IHS Immunziation software in RPMS and the IHS Immunzation Data Exchange software. She also serves as the agency lead on H1N1 vaccination and vaccine safety activities as part of the IHS H1N1 response team with the IHS Division of Epidemiology and Disease Prevention.
