This position is organizationally falls under the Chief of Staff of the Kickapoo Health Center as operated by the Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma. Operational hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. unless otherwise required by the Medical Director. The purpose of this position is to perform those duties as may be commonly associated with an Oklahoma Licensed Physician's Assistant implementing care in an ambulatory care setting. Skills and knowledge base should be applicable to ages across the life span, including the care of adult, pediatric, geriatric, and obstetrical patients in the outpatient settings.
Duties: 1. Provides diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive health services to patients under the preview and under the direct supervision of the Chief of Staff. 2. Takes comprehensive or focused health histories from patients or their attendant designee. 3. Performs comprehensive or focused physical exams on patients. 4. Reviews health records comprehensively on patients being evaluated. 5. Records health history and physical exam in a legible and coherent fashion. 6. Makes medical decisions, orders diagnostic tests and forms treatment plans under the guidance of a physician and/or practice guidelines. 7. Provides therapeutics including, but not limited to, medications, under the guidance of a physician and/or practice guidelines. 8. Provides appropriate health education to patients and their families. 9. Makes referrals to external provider's networks as may be medically necessary to address the need for a higher level of care. Such referral may or may not be covered under contract health service. 10. Maintains medical knowledge and proficiency. 11. Able to perform those skills and scope of work commonly identified licensed in the State of Oklahoma. 12. Must have professional of record documentation and levels care for billing compliancy Must be able to be recognized as a Provider within HMO, PPO, Managed Care Networks, Medicaid and Medicare. 13. Attends mandatory Medical Staff and departmental meetings, unless otherwise assigned. 14. Observes and abides by the Bylaws and Medical Staff Rules/Regulations of the Kickapoo Tribal Health Center. 15. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Experience: Minimum of four (4) years working in a clinical setting. Minimum of two (2) years' experience with direct supervision of staff (if required) Education: Successful completion of a Physician Program and be fully licensed in the State of Oklahoma as such with no restrictions. Certification as a physicianby the National Commission on Certification of Physician is required. • Must have excellent writing and verbal communication skills • Must have computer knowledge of Office Excel and Office Word • Must have a desire and capability to be trained on other software programs • Must have a working understanding of community and state based linkages in Public Health, Social Services or other community and social service based networks which support the needs of the community • Must be familiar with and able to apply skills documenting and managing patient/client protected health information through the use of an electronic health or electronic medical record. • Must have BLS, ACLS Certification, PALS • Must be able to work independently or in a team approach environment. • Must be amenable to a constantly shifting work environment with high stress levels related to the overall management and responsibility for a health care system which is varied and complex • Must maintain all Continuing Education Units as may be required for licensure and/or certification in specialty field of study. • Must possess and maintain a current, valid, active and unrestricted Oklahoma driver's license • Ability to use standard office equipment, such as the computer, printers, copies, embossing and shredding machines. • Ability to learn new software systems for application in the management in the health care system.
