We focus on the entire person, and have an integrative, patient-centered, multidisciplinary health team of dedicated professionals whose primary mission is to provide the best possible care to our tribal members and community. This position provides direct and comprehensive primary, preventative and therapeutic medical and nursing care to individuals across the lifespan at the Karen I Fryberg Tulalip Health Clinic serving the The Tulalip Tribes and their community. The incumbent reports to the Senior Medical Officer. This position is a full-time, contract staff that includes benefits such as: 1-week CME plus allowance, employer-contributed 401k, 12 paid holidays, medical, dental, vision, vacation and sick leave, bereavement leave, flexible hours, etc. Work weeks are based on 80-hour pay periods, and employees are paid every other Friday. |
| Duties: | 1. Provides primary medical care for Tulalip Members and other Native Americans within Snohomish County. 2. Elicits detailed patient histories and preforms approprate examinations. 3. Reaches diagnoses and orders appropriate laboratory testing, imaging, specialty care. 4. Counsels patients and family on health and diseases. 5. Administers or prescribes treatments and medications. 6. Prescribes appropriate inoculations and vaccines to immunize patients from communicable diseases. 7. Refers problems beyond the scope and competence or facilities to appropriate physician specialist. 8. Refers nutritional, social, emotional and developmental problems to appropriate professionals and/or agencies. 9. Bases decisions on information obtained through professional medical and advanced practice nursing knowledge and skills, current best practice standards of care, and approved policies and procedures. 10. Make notes and chart observations in individual patient medical records and complete all additional documentation within 24 hours. 11. Provides urgent medical care as needed or requested. 12. Performs other job related duties as required or directed. 13. Sutures minor wounds, and performs minor procedures, under standard practice principals in Washington State. • Under the direction of the Senior Medical Officer, works independently within their licensure and in coordination with the healthcare team to care for the clinic's patients. • Authority in medical situations corresponds to licensure. • Must have tolerance and patience to deal with upset, angry and/or frustrated patience and/or vendors. • Must be willing to attend progressive related trainings as deemed necessary. • Must be able to work in a culturally diverse environment. • Performs duties as a Primary Care Provider for patients within their panel. • Provides complete physical examinations and procedures within scope of practice. • Participates in weekly provider meetings. • Participates in evaluation of Health Clinic policies and procedures. • Prepares patient education materials and articles for Tulalip media outlets, and participates in provider-lead patient educational classes. • Participates in after hour on-call services. • Maintain aseptic and sterile technique and handles exposure to hazardous waste and communicable disease in accordance with OSHA regulations. • Observes strict patient confidentiality, and all pertinent requirements of HIPAA and any other confidentiality regulations. |
| Qualifications: | Education: • Graduate of an accredited medical school or osteopathic school with a minimum of a doctoral degree. • Completed residency in Family Practice. Experience: • Two (2) years' experience as a Family Practice Physician to include prenatal care. • Three (3) months' experience utilizing electronic medical records. Prerequisites: • Must possess current and unrestricted Washington State MD or DO License. • Must posess and maintain Board Certification in Family Practice. • Must possess a current, full and unrestricted DEA license. • Must possess current CPR or BCLS • ACLS certification required within two (2) years of employment. • The Tulalip Tribes requires different levels of pre-employment background screening for all positions. Employment is contingent upon successful passing of these background checks |
