Summary: EMPOWERING INDIVIDUALS TO LIVE HEALTHY LIVES WHILE HONORING LAGUNA VALUES The PUEBLO OF LAGUNA Tribal Council chartered the LAGUNA HEALTHCARE CORPORATION (LHC) "to provide access to quality healthcare services for the members of the Pueblo of Laguna and others qualified to receive services." LHC's goal is to utilize an Integrated Healthcare Model including: Outpatient, Primary and Urgent Care, Lab and X-Ray Services, Pharmacy Services, Behavioral Health Services, Community Health Services, Dental Services. The construction of the new LAGUNA COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER is on schedule to be completed in December of 2020, with an anticipated opening in Early Spring 2021. Under supervision of the CEO, provide and direct patient care services to the Pueblo of Laguna tribal community leading the Patient Centered Medical Home Model. Supervise, guide, train and support clinicians and ancillary staff including pharmacy, behavioral health, laboratory and x-ray services, cultivating effective working relationships to provide the best patient care possible. Develop medical staff by-laws, credentialing/privileging program and other clinical policies and procedures adhering to compliance standards, AAAHC guidelines, quality improvement and best practices. Examine patients to determine diagnoses and treatment plans. Ensure effective and confidential delivery of quality family healthcare in an environment that is respectful and fosters innovation utilizing available resources to maximize services and improve the overall health of the Tribal community. Duties will involve administrative duties 75% of time and clinical duties 25% of time.
Duties: 1. Participate in strategic planning and organizational development with the executive team and provide clinical expertise and leadership in the design and implementation of projects and innovations across the system. 2. Direct and oversee all aspects of the clinical functions of the organization including development and implementation of policies and procedures pertaining to clinical staff and services. 3. Ensure timely access to high quality medical services for patients through clinical systems improvement, recruitment and retention of providers and oversight of the quality improvement initiatives. 4. Work collaboratively with executive management to ensure provider productivity and financial objectives are met. Provide leadership, strategy, and vision around practice transformation ensuring that the clinical model addresses patient needs. 5. Educate medical staff on best practice behaviors and competencies. Approve or deny applications during the credentialing process. 6. Diagnose, direct, prescribe or provide treatment, and arrange for specialized care or patient referral as required. Incumbent is recognized as an expert in his/her field specialty and is fully responsible for the clinical practice of the medical staff and support staff within the program. 7. Assign work to employees in an efficient and equitable manner in order to achieve satisfactory quality of patient care. 8. Assure responsibility for the diagnosis, prevention, therapy, and case management of patients with diabetes or at risk for diabetes. 9. Responsible for the clinical program including budget, personnel, clinical services, projects, and other services. 10. Develop, implement and monitor pharmacy services including formulary compliance, prescribing patterns and dispensing of medication. 11. Direct the day-to-day operation of laboratory and x-ray services. 12. Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications: 1. Five (5) years of experience which may include residency in a related medical specialty. Clinical practice experience preferably in family practice, internal or emergency medicine. 2. One (1) year of supervisory/management experience. 1. Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. 2. Foreign Doctor of Medicine Degree equivalency as accepted by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates. 1. Current, active, full and unrestricted license as a Medical Doctor/Physician from any US state or the District of Columbia. 2. Current Federal DEA license. 3. Active NM Controlled Substance Registration 4. Current BLS, ACLS or PALS certification or must obtain within 30 days of employment. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each responsibility satisfactorily. Comprehensive knowledge of modern principles and techniques of general medicine and public health, as traditionally practiced. 5. Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care. 6. Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards. 7. Knowledge of medical diagnostic and patient care services in area of medical expertise. 8. Ability to supervise, advise, and train clinical professionals and/or students in area of expertise. 9. Knowledge of relevant drugs and non-pharmaceutical patient care aids and ability to prescribe dosages and instruct patients in correct usage. 10. Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops. 11. Knowledge of current principles, methods and procedures for the delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in area of expertise. 12. Ability to work both independently and in a team environment. 13. Knowledge of accreditation and certification requirements and standards. 14. Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress. 15. Effective verbal and written communication skills. 16. Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills. 17. Demonstrated ability to lead and develop clinical staff members. 18. Demonstrated ability to serve as a successful participant on the executive management team that provides corporation leadership and direction. 19. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with the corporation's Board of Directors. 20. Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Must include Excel and skills in database management and record keeping. 21. Computer-related problem-solving skills using available trainings and help desk. 22. Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality. 23. Excellent organizational and planning skills. 24. Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential employee-involved situations and documentation. 25. Judgment and decision-making ability. 26.
