Staff Physician (Internal Medicine) opportunity in Northeastern Arizona. Beyond the city, bona-fide treasures of panoramic delights await you in Fort Defiance, Arizona! Tséhootsooí Medical Center is the primary hospital for Fort Defiance Indian Hospital Board's healthcare delivery system. Accredited by CMS, TMC provides general outpatient and inpatient healthcare to 16 surrounding communities. TMC also provides same-day surgery, a diagnostic center, a growing network of primary care and ancillary services.
Duties: Serves as a Staff Physician [Internal Medicine], which involves performance of medical care services for adult patients at Tséhootsooí Medical Center, Fort Defiance, AZ and/or Nahat'á Dziil Health Center, Sanders, AZ. Primary assignments including providing comprehensive and continuing health and medical care services for adult patients. The health care provided requires the recognition of diseases injuries which require referral including those which are difficult to discover or identify. Assignments also include providing consultation to others in the same or other specialties, such as for complicated internal medicine or intensive care patients. Incumbent serves as an expert in this field. As an Internist, assumes responsibility for the diagnosis, prevention, therapy, maintenance, and rehabilitation of adult patients in the outpatient clinic, and inpatient settings. Typical, but not all inclusive assignments in the following: - Interviews and examines patients, reviews past medical history, and requests and/or performs diagnostic tests and examinations deemed necessary to obtain all possible information related to each case. Makes preliminary diagnosis, directs, prescribes or provides treatment as required. Provide definitive management in all medical categories for cases that do not require referral. Gives total patient care including prevention, health maintenance, early diagnosis, treatment and follow-up services to patients under his/her care. - Serves as consultant to other physicians at this hospital on complicated internal medicine or intensive care unit patients. -Refers patients to appropriate contracted medical or other government facilities, providing full clinical information for care and diagnostic procedures that cannot be adequately provided at local I.H.S. facilities. Coordinates and integrates information obtained into the ongoing Health Care Program at Tséhootsooí Medical Center and assures the provision of timely follow-up care as required. -Assures preparation of appropriate medical records for all pateints seen to assure the accumulation and organization of all pertinent clinical data needed to provide comprehensive medical care. Completes azll medical records in a timely manner. -Works closely with allied health professionals [i.e., Community Health Nurse, Social Workers, Health Educator, etc.] to utilize coordinate the services of other Health Care Professionals in the management of the patients medical, psychological and social problems. Performs other duties as assigned. -Works under the Chief of Medicine who provides general professional and administrative supervision. Incumbent works for considerable independence during course of patient care. Work performance is reviewed for conformance to policies and practices relating to health care delivery. -Incumbent must be knowledge of service unit medical staff by-laws and rules and regulations and comply with all requirements for appointment to and maintaining status as an active member of the medical staff. -As required, performs medically related or patient care assignments, that [I] fall outside the designated area of specialization or experience and [2] involve working in other service units or facilities on an emergency or other contingency basis. -Works on a regularly assigned rotation to provide continuity of medical services during evenings, nights, holidays and weekends.
Qualifications: EDUCATION/TRAINING: Completion of an accredited Medical School Program. Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine Residency Program and be Board Certified or Board Eligible. Current Medical License from any State or Puerto Rico. Current DEA License. Must meet all credentialing requirements of the FDIHB Medical Staff and maintain status as active member of the medical staff. A record of satisfactory performance in all prior and current employment as evidenced by positive references from previous and current employers.
