The Health Division Chief Medical Officer (CMO) provides medical oversight, policy and program development, and oversees medical performance objectives for all clinical departments within the Health Division. The CMO has both administrative and clinical patient care responsibilities within the Health Division to be determined in consultation with the Clinical Services Administrator according to organization needs.
Duties: 1. Delivers quality patient care in a respectful culturally sensitive manner that includes acute and chronic care, preventative care, and consultations with patients, family and/or specialist 2. Utilizes the electronic health record for all patient care, maximizing its functionality and service as an EHR resource to other providers 3. Provides collaborative oversight of mid-level providers, serving as a mentor and consultant 4. Develops and manages medical programs for improved health care providing guidance to the staff and community about health threats and prevention recommendations 5. Works with the clinical leadership and the Quality Director to oversee quality improvement initiatives which includes periodic reporting to accrediting bodies and Tribal leadership 6. Oversees Divisional performance improvement activities designed to improve the quality of patient care and maximize resource utilization 7. Chairs weekly clinician meetings and participates in other clinically related meetings such as the Credentialing Committee, Clinical Operations, and others as needed 8. Coordinates staff peer reviews, self-assessments by providers, and continuing education to assure that competency is maintained 9. Participates in developing and executing Health Division strategic priorities and fiscal expectations 10. Assists in determining the direction of clinic services, improving current services, and developing new services based on community need
Qualifications: • Current board certification as a medical physician, preferably in a primary care specialty such as family practice, internal medicine, or emergency medicine • Three to five (3-5) years practice experience in a primary care setting • State of Wisconsin and Federal DEA Certification • Advanced training/course work in medical leadership preferred. • Demonstrated previous medical leadership • Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care • Knowledge of community medical diagnostic and patient care services in area of medical expertise • Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements • Ability to supervise, advise, and train clinical professionals in area of expertise; work independently and in a team environment
