Summary:

This in-person course consists of six separate sessions offered to Shiprock Service Unit dental staff ONLY.

Renal/Liver/Bilary – 1] Overall review of organ system
2] Understanding lab values and how they effect treatment
3] The why behind the what for pre-op, intra-op and post-op treatment of compromised patients

Oral Mucosal pathology – 1] Reviewing what is normal and abnormal
2] Review of common mucosal pathology
3] How to identify concerning lesions and what to do.

MRONJ – 1] Identify different stages of Medication Related Osteonecrosis of the Jaw
2] Are we concerned about dental treatment on patients taking Bisphosphonates
3] Management of MRONJ

Deep Fascial Plane Infections – 1] Signs and symptoms of deep fascial plane infection
2] How to identify infection of multiple planes.
3] Management of deep fascial plane infection.

Oral Surgery Assistants: 1] Oral Surgery Assistant’s Course: Have a broad knowledge Oral Surgery procedures
2] Have knowledge of how to assist in Medical Emergencies
3] Have knowledge of why adjunctive measures are done in the Oral Surgery practice

LAB: 1] Demonstration of OR sterilization technique
2] Practical tips maintaining sterility in the OR
3] Demonstration of OR set-up and turning over OR.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this webinar, participants should be able to:
1. Describe the why behind the how in Oral Surgery;
2. Understand major organ systems and how they affect treatment; and
3. Better evaluate a patient leading to better diagnosis and treatment.

Tuition Policy:

Tuition must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to the start date of any course. Request for refunds must be received in writing at least two weeks before the course begins. For each refund request, there will be an administrative charge of $100. No refunds will be made to registrants who fail to attend a course. If IHS CDE program cancels a course, then 100% of the tuition will be refunded.
